櫻井里花が最新曲『はーい!』に込めたのは押しつぶされそうな気持ちを隠し「はーい!」と明るく声を上げた心の叫び

「「はーい！」って手を挙げるけれど 全然「Yes!」の意味じゃなくて笑っちゃう」と、含みを持った(疑問も抱いた)明るい声で歌いだす櫻井里花の最新曲の『はーい!』。
人は「はい」という返事を肯定的に捉えがちだが、曖昧さを美徳?とする日本人にとって、「はい」という返事にはいろんな意味を含んでいる。中でも、「納得してないけど「はい」と言わざるを得なくて使う」ことは、普段の生活の中でもとても多い。それは、会社や学校のみならず家庭においても。むしろ、「人との上下関係が生じたとき」ほど「呑み込まなきゃいけない自分の意思」も生まれ、納得出来ない悔しさやあきらめを含み、「はい」と空返事をすることはよくある。

元スイートショップの…というよりも、V6の『HONEY BEAT』や東方神起の『Hide & Seek』、アンジュルムの『忘れてあげる』などヒット曲を次々と手がける作家/プロデューサーとして活動中の近藤薫がプロデュース。昨年7月30日に、1stシングル『短篇小説』を発売し、活動を始めたシンガーの櫻井里花。同年12月に出した1stアルバム『ありがとうじゃ足りないよ』も支持を獲得。動くままの気持ちを歌声に投影してしまう(ゆくではない)感情型のシンガーとして、女性シンガー好きな人たちの間で今、注目を集めている逸材だ。
デビューからちょうど1年後となる7月30日に、櫻井里花は配信限定で2ndシングル『はーい!』を発売する。作詞/作曲/プロデュースを手がけた近藤薫いわく、『はーい!』は「素直になれぬ、苦悩に満ちた、やり場のない若者の気持ちをストレートに歌い上げた、ギターロックナンバー」。その楽曲を、まさに「やり場のない気持ちに苦悩し続けた10代の時期」を過ごしてきた櫻井里花が、当時の気持ちも振り返りながら、「明るく元気そうに見えて、何処か気のない心」で「はーい!」と歌いあげる。
力強く歩を踏みしめるように進む躍動的な楽曲とは裏腹に、我慢を含んだ苦悩や苛立つ気持ちを、櫻井里花は気持ち動くまま歌声に乗せてきた。彼女は、「"叫びたいよ 笑いたいよ 私は私で 晒す意味 意思教えて 生きる意味 意思刻むよ" と歌うたびに、いい子ちゃんぶってるうちに、何時しか、まわりが捉える優等生の櫻井里花を演じなきゃいけない自分に押しつぶされそうになっていたし、そんな自分を自分で蔑んでいたことを思い出してしまいます」と語っていた。
誰だって自分の感情を心に仕舞い込み、小さなフラストレーションを重ねながら日々を過ごした経験はあるだろう。その中身は変化しながら、昔も今も、自分の心を抑え、不満と我慢を積み重ね続けている人たちがほとんどかも知れない。だから人は、自分を開放する術を何かに求め、すがってゆく。現在22歳の櫻井里花にとって、それが『はーい!』を歌うことだったように、この歌へ触れることで、心の負担や不満を少しでも減らせる人たちは、同じようにいるのではと思っている。
櫻井里花自身は、「無理に頑張っていた自分を脱ぎ捨て、好きな歌だけを歌っていられる今は心が楽になった。それを乗り越えられた自分を知っているからこそ、今は、『はーい!』に書かれた感情を苦しいだけじゃない気持ちで歌えていますし、だからこそ裏の裏の裏までと、いろんな心模様を歌声に詰め込めました。ぜひ、わたしがどういう想いでその声で歌っているのかまで探って聴いてもらえたら嬉しく思います」と語ってくれた。同時に、「『はーい!』に込めた気持ちは、幾つになっても、何度だって出てくる想い。今も、今の櫻井里花なりにもがき苦しみ葛藤する気持ちは持っています。でも、一度乗り越えた自分も知れたからこそ、あの声で歌えている自分もいます」と、今の心情も伝えてきた。

7月31日に、櫻井里花は活動一周年を記念したワンマン公演を天窓Comfort.で行う。チケットはSold Outを記録。けっして大きな会場ではないとはいえ、櫻井里花の歌声を日々の心の糧にしている人たちは着実に増え続けている。ライブは東京近郊及び静岡を軸に精力的に行っているので、気になった方は、制御することなく気持ちのままに歌う櫻井里花のステージに一度触れていただきたい。きっと、あなたの心が何かしら動くはずだ。それが同調し、より自分の心を見つめることなのか。共に光を目指して歩むことなのか…。答えはお任せしたい。
