AUTO-MOD、9年ぶりに新作「祈り」を発売。彼らの高く掲げた拳が握っていたのは「愛」だった。

私利私欲に溺れ豚のように肥え太ったsillyな支配者たちが牛耳り鳥(取り)仕切る肉々(憎々)しい囲いの中で、僕らは息をしている。そこは秩序を保たれ自由を謳歌する楽園のように見えるが、空から降ってくる言葉に声を荒らげても届くことはない。僕らはそんな社会の中、囲まれた冊の中へそれぞれに小さな囲いを作っては、支配された側どうしで優劣を競い合ってきた。そこで勝利を手にしたほんの一部の者だけが、初めて囲いを取り仕切る者たちの仲間入りが出来る。でも、僕ら凡人と呼ばれるほとんどの者たちは、最初から囲う側になる意識を持つことなく、不自由を知らずに育った囲いの中、同じ者どうしで競いあう人生というゲームへ夢中になり、翻弄され、一生囲いの外を知らずに空へと召されてゆく。

AUTO-MODが、9年ぶりに新しい音楽の聖書(バイブル)を作り上げた。タイトルは、「祈り」。つねに終末思想を掲げ、世の中を、嘆くのではなく音楽で殴ってきた彼らにしては優しい言葉だ。でも、とてもAUTO-MODらしい意思を掲げた言葉だ。
彼らは「祈り」と題したミニアルバムの中へ、4つの大衆へ向けた「賛歌」を詰め込んだ。冒頭を飾った爆裂シャンソンパンク/ロックオペラと言いたくなる「Hymne à l'amour (Ai No Sanka)」へ触れた瞬間から、「これがAUTO-MOD?!」と嬉しい驚きを覚えずにいれなかった。そこに描かれていたのは「終末、終幕に送る毒々しい愛の賛歌」。AUTO-MODは何時だって世紀末という絶望渦巻く舞台の中、希望を見いだそうと声を荒らげている。そんな彼らが辿り着いた一つの想いが「愛」だった。

どっかの歌い手が言ってたっけ、「かならず最後に愛は勝つ」と。愛には勝ち負けなんて存在しない。争いやエゴなどあらゆる醜さを呑み込んだ先に求める幸せ(人によっては楽園)が「愛」なんだと思う。AUTO-MODが空高く掲げた拳が強く握りしめていたのは、怒りや嘆きではなく「愛」だった。
中には、「REAL WORLD (double faced society)」のような、何時の時代にも支配され続ける世界を嘆き、盛大に皮肉ったAUTO-MODらしい楽曲も収録になっている。かつてのAUTO-MODなら、鋭い刃のみを突きつけ、反旗を翻すことで人々の心を目覚めさせていただろう。でも今のAUTO-MODは「怒り」を心の中へと呑み込み、あらゆる感情を「愛」で包み込むことで人々の心に「生きる糧」を与えてきた。

安易に「愛こそがすべて」と唱えるつもりはない。でも、たとえ争う本能や抗う姿勢を向け、声を荒らげようと、その先で互いに手と手を結び合わないことに未来は生まれない。その事実を、AUTO-MODは世紀末という舞台の上で、人々へ向けた「愛の賛歌」を歌いながら、自分らしく生きる一つの道標を「祈り」という作品に示してきた。

ジュネ/Yukino(EX:EX-ANS)/Hikaru(JUSTY-NASTY)/EBY(EX:ZI-KILL)という最強の布陣で作り上げたミニアルバム「祈り」。音楽を通した4人の心の声に、彼らが音楽を通して捧げた祈りに、一度耳を傾けてもらいたい。これまでのAUTO-MODの常識を打ち壊す衝撃を、かならず感じるはずだ。
