MAN WITH A MISSIONがロスの老舗ライブハウス Whisky a Go Goでライブを実施！

　MAN WITH A MISSIONの北米ツアーが7月10日（日本時間7月11日）にいよいよロサンゼルスに到着、ライブを開催した。

　ニューヨークからスタートし、アメリカ大陸を西へ横断したMAN WITH A MISSIONの北米ツアーも、約一カ月を掛けていよいよ西海岸に到着。ロサンゼルスのWhisky a Go Goにてライブを行った。

　ウエストハリウッドに位置するWhisky a Go Goは、ドアーズ、ニルヴァーナ、ジミ・ヘンドリックスなど、早々たる面々がライブを行った場所として知られており、ザ・フー、レッド・ツェッペリン、オアシス等、イギリス出身のアーティストがこぞってライブを行うなど、アメリカでも聖地として位置付けられる、老舗中の老舗ライブハウスだ。

　この日も、会場には国境も人種も入り混じったたくさんのオーディエンスが駆け付けた。爆音でBGMが流れ始めると照明が暗転、絶叫に包まれる中、オオカミ達がステージに登場した。「Ladies & Gentleman、Boys & Girls! We Are the MAN WITH A MISSION!!」と、日本と変わらないJean-Ken Johnnyのコールでライブがスタート。「distance」「HASTA LA VISTA」という、いきなり畳み掛けるアッパーチューンで、会場はいきなり大歓声とモッシュが起こりだす。オーディエンスの反応も日本のファンと変わらないどころか、全身で感情を表現するお国柄か、この二曲だけで確実に、この地でもMAN WITH A MISSIONが受け入れられているようだった。

　「evils fall」ではヘッドバンギングが起こり、「FLY AGAIN」では全身を左右に揺らし、駆け付けたオーディエンス達が、逆にオオカミ達にリクエストをしているかのような反応を生み出していたのは、初のアメリカでのツアーを駆け抜け、バンドとしても一回りも二周りも大きくなった証とも感じられた。

　「本当ニココニ戻ッテ来レテ嬉シイデス。コンナニ沢山ノアメリカノ方々ノ前デライブヲスルノハ、ズット前カラノ夢デシタ。」というJean-Ken JohnnyのMCには、とても温かい拍手と、絶叫に近い多くの歓声が贈られていた。過酷なツアーを乗り越えてきたという事もあってなのか、「次ノ曲ハ、毎日ノ日常ノ中デ、人生ノ意味ヲ見ツケル事ヲ歌ッタ歌デス。」と、ミディアムスローなナンバー「vitamin 64」をオーディエンスに捧げる。自分達からのメッセージを送る事と、ある意味余裕とも感じられるMAN WITH A MISSIONの姿には、初日のニューヨーク公演ではまだ見られなかった、非常に印象的な姿とシーンでもあった。

　「ONE MORE SONG!!! ONE MORE SONG!!!」と、「GOW!!!!!」という野太いコールが入り乱れ、会場中が大歓声を繰り返す中、アンコールは「Emotions」と「Take What U Want」を会場にぶちかまし、この日一番の盛り上がりを見せてライブは終了した。

　MAN WITH A MISSIONの北米ツアーも残り7月12日（日本時間7月13日）に行われるアナハイムでの1本を残すのみとなったが、帰国早々に、オオカミ達は「JOIN ALIVE」、「FUJI ROCK　FESTIVAL」に出演するなど、夏フェスシーズンに突入。この夏以降日本では、この北米ツアーを経てまた一段と大きくなった究極の生命体・MAN WITH A MISSIONの姿を各地で見れそうだ。
