TarO＆JirO、待望のワンマンライブが大盛況のうちに終了

兄弟ギターロックデュオ“TarO&JirO"が9月27日（土）に東京・下北沢GARDENにて満を持してのワンマンライブを行なった。

その類をみないライブスタイルと独創性の高いサウンドが若い世代の音楽ファンのみならず、かつてギターをかき鳴らした大人のロックファンを魅了。業界内でも話題を呼び、デビューまもない2人は、「TOKYO METROPOLITAN ROCK FESTIVAL」、「ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL」、「RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL」、「MONSTER baSH」等大型フェスに次々出演。今回のワンマンは、ひと回りもふた回りも大きくなった2人にはもちろんファンも心待ちにしていたワンマンライブ。

ライブ直前、JirOは「約1年振り、東京ではデビュー後、初のワンマンで気合も十分です。“これまで"のタロジロと“これから"のタロジロが垣間見れるステージにして見せます！」 、TarOは「俺たちにとってライブは毎回、命掛けな程、大切な場です。そこから出るパワーと皆さんにも協力してもらいながら、“正直に"一音一音に挑みたいです」と、並々ならぬ意気込みを語ってくれた。

オープニング映像に映し出されたカウントダウンに合わせて、満員の中、タロジロコールが巻き起こる。“東京襲来～Landing in the city of Tokyo～"と自ら命名し、期待と緊張の中、幕を開けた。

ギターのひずみが印象的なインスト「襲来」でスタート。オープニングから、2人の攻撃的なサウンドが襲い掛かり会場中に響き渡った。そこからイギリスでの活動中に生まれた「Once in a while」で勢いをつけるはずがいきなりハプニング。テンションが上がり、TａｒOがJirOのギターのケーブルを蹴り抜いてしまった。突如のハプニングに苦笑いのJirOだが海外ライブでのハプニングの経験も豊富にある彼らはあわてることなく、ライブ再開。英語詞での言葉の掛け合いが印象的な「Brothers Fight」などアッパーなナンバーが続き、観客を一気に虜にした。「大人の運動会」では、難しいと評判の恒例手拍子で、兄・TarOがファンを煽る。サウンドだけではなくこれも変拍子、瞬時に盛り上がりを増した。

遠征したイギリスのライブでも披露した、タロジロスタイルにアレンジされたNirvanaのカバー「Smells Like Teen Sprit」で観客の歓声を誘うと、ストリート時代からずっと2人で演ってきたタロジロのステージに初の試みとして今回はドラマーが登場し、音に厚みに広がりも出たコラボも披露。本編最後は10月22日に発売になるニューシングル「ペロレラ・レボリューション」を披露。JirOは「ペロレラって言葉には意味はないです。出来たギターのリフがそう聞こえたのがこの曲のはじまり。意味がないことも、無駄だと思うこともやってみれば、そこに意味が生まれる。くだらないことも、いかに真面目に追及するかが大事」 と語る。無から有に、意味がなく生まれた事にも意味を見出し、曲を生みだす。彼らの制作スタイルだ。アコギ・エフェクト・ロック、そんなジャンルがあれば間違いなく最高峰の楽曲といえるだろう。

アンコールはギターが変則チューニングのため、これまでのライブでもめったに披露してこなかった「Brain Soap」に始まり、代表曲「Snake Bite」～「Silent Siren」で約2時間のステージは幕を閉じた。

ライブ終演後、TarOは「一言でいえばかなり楽しかった。アコースティックやバンドスタイルなど自分達にとってチャレンジすることも多かったけど、満足のいくライブでした。次のステージにつなげていきます。」と、 一方のJirOは「めちゃくちゃ疲れたけど、全力疾走した気持ちのいい疲れ。前回のワンマンから1年間のメジャー活動の中で成長したタロジロを見せられたと思います。この勢いで、もっとでかいステージに立って見せます」と語った。
