シアターブルック、20周年を記念したアルバムに豪華ゲストが参加

今年メジャーデビュー20周年となるシアターブルックが、その記念となるアルバム『LOVE CHANGES THE WORLD』を7月29日に発売することがわかった。

シアターブルックは1986年に佐藤タイジ（Vo,G）を中心に結成し、1995年にメジャーデビュー。様々な遍歴を経て、現在の4名のメンバーを擁するスタイルとなった彼らは、それ以降実力を遺憾なく発揮し、数々の名盤をリリース。その卓越したパフォーマンスで大いにオーディエンスを沸かせてきた。

一方で佐藤タイジは、2011年の東日本大震災をきっかけに電力問題にも着目。2012年12月、11枚目となるオリジナルアルバム『最近の革命』のリリースとともに、「反対運動よりも賛成運動の方が継続できるのだ！」という佐藤タイジの声掛けにより『THE SOLAR BUDOKAN』と銘打った、史上初となる太陽光発電の電力だけによるロックフェスティバルを日本武道館で開催。シアターブルックがホストとなり、多くの豪華ゲストが出演して大きな話題を呼んだ。

これがきっかけとなり、地元岐阜県中津川の賛同を得て、翌年の2013年に『中津川 THE SOLAR BUDOKAN』を開催。引き続き太陽光発電による電力で音楽が披露されるこのイベントは、毎年その地で開催され、リゾート型のロックフェスティバルとして定着。シアターブルックに賛同する出演者も増え続け、今や2日間に渡り2万人近い観客を集める人気のイベントになっている。

メジャーデビュー20周年記念アルバムのタイトル『LOVE CHANGES THE WORLD』は、今年の『中津川 THE SOLAR BUDOKAN』のメインテーマであり、佐藤タイジが一番伝えたいキーワード。勿論、レコーディングに関わる電力は全て太陽光発電のエネルギーだけを使用した作品となっている。また、アルバムには2012年以降、このロックフェスティバルを通じて交友を深めたミュージシャンたちが多数友情参加。彼らのキャリアの記念すべき瞬間に、素晴らしい花を添えた。

収録曲は、昨年のJ-WAVEの企画で発表された「もう一度世界を変えるのさ」の2015年バージョンの他、書下ろしの新曲が5曲、ジョン・レノンのカバー曲「スターティング・オーヴァー」や、RCサクセションが『COVERS』で披露した「ラヴミーテンダー」をさらにシアターブルック風にした「何やってんだー」、1996年にリリースした『TALISMAN』でカバー収録した「One Fine Morning」（オリジナル：Lighthouse）の再カバーなど、幅広いアレンジが施された合計10曲が収録される。

尚、このアルバムはJ-WAVEが主宰する音楽専門クライドファンディング『J-CROUD MUSIC』で、「ソーラーレコーディング・プロジェクト」としてサポーターを募集中。協賛者には金額に応じてスペシャルな特典が用意されているとのことなので、気になる方はチェックしてみよう。
