【桜木せいら】目指すは新しいロックアイドル！

　ふわっとしたムードを漂わせる一方で、ステージではギターを掻き鳴らして歌うワイルドな一面も。歯科大学在学中のシンガーソングライター、桜木せいらがCDデビューを果たす！

──まずはプロフィール的な部分から、音楽を好きになったきっかけとデビューまでの経緯を教えてください。

「今の事務所に所属することになったのは、中学1年生の時に地元の福岡でスカウトされたのがきっかけです。その頃は医者になるのが夢だったんですけど、音楽はもともと好きで、YUIさんに憧れてギターを弾くようになりました。YUIさんと絢香さんは特に好きです。その後、事務所に入って本格的なレッスンを始めて、ヴォイトレに通ううちに“歌うのってこんなに楽しいんだぁ”と気付いて、高校１年生ぐらいから作詞作曲の勉強もするようになりました。本格的な音楽活動をスタートさせたのは東京の大学に入ってからです。」

──歯科大学に通いながら音楽活動を行なっているという、両方の夢をお持ちなんですね。

「はい。医学部は大変そうだったので、歯学部に入りました。今は学校と音楽活動を両立させています。」

──デビューが目前に迫っている今、周りの友達はどんなリアクションですか？

「地元の友達が自分のことのように喜んで、すごく応援してくれているんです。デビューシングル「アメリア」はテレビ東京『ピラメキーノ』のエンディングテーマになっているんですけど、“いっぱい映っとったから、連写してしまった!!”ってテレビに映った私の写真をたくさん送ってくれたり（笑）。大学の友達も“ラジオ、聞いたよ！”って言ってくれるのが嬉しいですね。」

──デビューシングル「アメリア／シシュンキラビリンス」は曲のタイプは違うけれど、両方とも思春期の揺れる想いを歌っていて、キラキラした印象がありました。

「「アメリア」は誰かに歌いかけているようでいて、実は自分自身に問いかけている曲。サビが頭に残る曲なので、《お願いアメリア 何時かは 本当の自分で愛させて》というところは、特に想いを込めて歌っています。「シシュンキラビリンス」は自分が思春期だった頃を思い出して、悩んだり、迷ったりしている人に向けて曲と歌詞を書きました。曲調も、明るい気持ちになってもらえるようにアップテンポになっています。」

──曲や歌詞はどんな時に思い浮かぶのですか？

「いつもお風呂の中でリラックスしながら考えています。曲を作る時は半身浴でゆっくり。実家にいる時は“長いよ”って家族からよく怒られていました（笑）」

──通常盤のみに収録されている「エスカレーターエレベーター」はライダースを着て、エレキギターを弾きながら歌っているイメージが沸くロックナンバーですが…これもお風呂で？

「そうです（笑）。片思いのすれ違いをエスカレーターとエレベーターに喩えていて、こういう激しいロックな曲、大好きなんです。ハマって作りました！」

──今後はどんな存在を目指していきたいですか？

「私の初めての音楽の仕事がGReeeeNさんの「キセキ」のMVに出演させていただいたことだったんですけど、GReeeeNさんも歯科医ということで…GReeeeNさんの女版みたいな（笑）。歯学部に通っていて、ソロの女性でエレキギター弾いて歌っている人はいないと思うので、その個性を打ち出せる新しいロックアイドルを目指していきたいと思っています。」

──白衣でエレキギターとか（笑）。

「それ、いいですね！（笑）　聴いた人、観た人に強く印象に残る自分にしかできない活動をしていきたいです。」
