DIR EN GREYの薫が10月に単行本を刊行

『TOUR15 NEVER FREE FROM THE AWAKENING』と銘打たれたツアーの開幕を9月10日に控えているDIR EN GREY。すでに来年2月には最新アルバムのタイトルそのままに『ARCHE』と題された日本武道館での二夜公演も決定しており、ますます今後の展開から目が離せないところだが、メンバー個々の動きについても見逃すわけにはいかない。今回は、薫に関わるニュースをお届けしよう。

まず10月21日、『読弦』と題された書籍が刊行される。これは、2012年春から雑誌『音楽と人』に連載されてきた『薫の読弦』を一冊にまとめたもので、しかもこの本のために特別に書き下された長編エッセイや撮り下ろしグラビア、自身の生い立ちが語られたロング・インタビュー、幼少期やDIR EN GREY以前のバンド時代の秘蔵写真なども盛り込まれた、まさにファン必携必読の内容となっている。全国のTOWER RECORDSでの独占販売となり、10月25日には同渋谷店での出版記念イベント（トーク＆サイン会）も予定されている。詳しくは『音楽と人』のオフィシャルサイトをご参照のこと。

また、その薫がこれまでもステージ衣装などで着用してきたブランド、MOSESとのコラボレーションを実現させたことも話題を呼んでいる。今回、彼は同ブランドの秋冬物コレクションにラインナップされている漆黒のウール・ガウンをプロデュース。しかも、モデルとしてそのガウンを着用しているのが、あの金子ノブアキだというのが驚きだ。

RIZEでの長年の活動のみならず、AA=への関与やソロ活動、そして俳優としても精力的な動きをみせてきた金子。実はかねてから両者には親交があり、薫は、「誰にこの服を着てもらおうかという話になった時、すぐさま頭に浮かんだのが、あっくん（＝金子の長年の愛称）だった」と語っている。そして金子の側も「詳しいことを聞くまでもなく、すぐにOKした」のだという。

すでにMOSESのオフィシャルサイトでは、同じウール・ガウンをまとった2人が並ぶ、実にクールな写真が紹介されている。が、実はその撮影当日まで、金子は、自分がどんな服を着ることになるのかすら知らずにいたのだという。しかし、薫が「ホントに失礼な話なんだけども、直前までどういう服なのかも全然伝えていなかった」と言うと、金子も「俺の側も、それを尋ねもしなかった」と笑う。さらに彼は「薫くんが何をするにも手を抜く人じゃないのはよくわかってるし、ストイックな精神の持ち主なのも知っているから、話をもらった時点でもう説明は要らなかった」とも語っている。また、薫は金子との関係性について「音楽的にも人間的にも敬意の対象であり、どこか緊張感をもって向き合うところのある相手でありながら、それが不思議と安らぎにも繋がるようなところがある」と語っている。こうしたやりとりを含む2人の対談記事も、近く公開される予定だ。

あくまで音楽活動を軸としながらも、そのクリエイター魂をより広い領域で発揮しつつある薫。DIR EN GREYの今後の動向のみならず、彼をはじめとする5人のメンバーそれぞれの動きにも注目したいところだ。
