SCANDAL、初の配信限定シングル「恋するユニバース」リリース＆恒例のクリスマスライヴ開催決定

SCANDALがバンド結成日の8月21日にBillboard Live OSAKAにてバンド結成11周年記念スペシャルライヴ『Storytellers: SCANDAL』を開催！　結成10周年の節目となった昨年は、同じく大阪の泉大津フェニックスにて1万人を動員した野外ライヴを行なったが、今年は趣を変え、わずか300人の観客を前にライヴを開催。ビルボードライブという空間に合わせて観客にはドレスコードが設けられ、メンバーもいつもよりシックなモノトーンの衣装でドレスアップし、ステージに登場した。

また、この日はアーティストが楽曲制作の経緯や、パーソナルなストーリーを語りながらライブを披露するMTVの系列チャンネルVH1の人気番組『Storytellers』の収録も実施。 同番組の日本制作第1弾アーティストとして、この日のライヴ収録を行なったHARUNA（Vo&Gt）は「『Storytellers』の日本で最初のアーティストに選んでもらえてとても光栄です。 今日はSCANDALの結成11周年記念日、そしてRINA（Dr&Vo）の誕生日でもあります。今日を特別な日にしたくて、いつもとは違う試みもいろいろ考えています」と語り、 ビルボードという会場の雰囲気に合わせた選曲、アレンジも交えて楽曲を披露していく。

「瞬間センチメンタル」でライヴをスタートし、「この会場で演奏できたら気持ちいいだろうと思って選曲した」という「キミと夜と涙」、 ダンス＆ボーカルスクール出身の彼女たちの経験やルーツを肯定し、バンドとして形にできた楽曲「LOVE ME DO」を演奏。

そして、MAMI（Gt&Vo）以外のメンバーがいったんステージを離れ、MAMIがボーカルを務める人気曲「声」を、アコースティックギターの弾き語りでしっとりと披露。「11年バンドを続けてきて、いろいろ嬉しい経験をしてきたけど、特に嬉しいのは、私たちのコピーバンドをしている人が日本中、海外にも居てくれていることです。 私たちが誰かが音楽を始めるきっかけになることができていたらうれしい。今日はお客さんの中から一人、私たちのコピーバンドをしてくれている子を呼んで、一緒に演奏したいと思います」とHARUNAが話し、会場にいる観客をステージに呼び込むと、5人編成でデビュー曲「DOLL」をパフォーマンス。さらに、「デビュー曲の後はまだ誰も聞いたことのない新曲を披露してもいいですか？出来たてホヤホヤのライブナンバーを聞いてください」と、未発表の最新曲「恋するユニバース」を初披露。後半はフェスやイベントでの定番曲となった「テイクミーアウト」、11年前の、バンドを結成した夏を想って書いた楽曲「8月」を演奏し、 最後は昨年のファン投票で1位を獲得し、SCANDALとファンにとって大切な1曲「SCANDAL BABY」を観客と一体になって披露し、結成11周年記念日のスペシャルなライヴを締めくくった。

このライヴの模様はMTVにて10月21日にオンエアされる。なお、新曲「恋するユニバース」は、10月22日より配信限定でリリースされることが決定した。収録内容などの詳細は後日発表となる。

また、12月24日に恒例のクリスマスライヴ『BEST★Xmas 2017』を赤坂BLITZで開催することが決定！　今年は47都道府県ツアー、夏フェス出演、対バンツアーと全国各地で精力的にライブを行っているSCANDAL。是非彼女たちのパフォーマンスを目撃してほしい。
