黒木渚、尖った歌をずっと歌い続けていきたい

　衝撃的な言葉選びと、ポップでありながら妖艶なサウンドで聴き手を独特な世界観にグッと引き込む黒木渚。ブレイク寸前でソロとなった彼女にその理由と、今作『標本箱』に込められた強い意思をしっかりと語ってもらった。


──前作までは3人のバンド編成で“黒木渚”というバンドでしたが、今作からはソロになったんですよね。

はい。元メンバーとは大学時代に出会った親友たちで。でも、前作『黒キ渚』をリリースして、ツアーをしているうちに、“黒木渚”である私の中に流れる音楽をしっかり色濃いまま具現化していくためには、解散するしかないと思い始めてしまって…。

──それは大きな決断でしたね。

はい。この決断をすることで、人として何か大きなものを失ってしまったんじゃないかと悩むこともありました。でも、音楽家として何か大切なものを得た気もしているんです。だからこそ、ソロになって初めてリリースするこのアルバム『標本箱』は、中途半端なものを作ってはいけないと思ったんですよね。そんなことしたら、元メンバーに申し訳がつかないじゃないですか。

──そうですね。その強い意志が詰まった曲は、本当に色濃いものばかりで驚きました。その決意は、1曲目の「革命」にそのまま反映されていますね。

そうですね。自分の意思を貫いてソロになったはいいものの、迷いもあったし、罪悪感もあったんです。決意してからの心の中はいつもぐちゃぐちゃで、その処理方法は曲を作るしかなかったんです。そんなふうに悩んでいる時に、今の心境に一番近いのは誰だろうと思ったら、ジャンヌ・ダルクが浮かんだんですよね。規模は違えど、彼女も戦いの前夜は絶対に怖かったと思うんです。その気持ちに勝手に共感し、歌詞を書き上げました。

──アレンジ面でも、これまでにないほどバラエティー豊かな楽器たちが色を添えていますよね。

これまではバンドだったからこそ、それぞれのパートがあって、その中でアレンジを組み立てていたんです。でも、今回はソロだからこそ、いろんな楽器を使うことに自由が出てきて。とはいえ、私は音楽的な知識がまだ全然足りていないので、松岡モトキさんをプロデューサーに迎え、私の頭の中にある音楽を具現化してもらいました。おかげで、想像通り…いや、想像以上のものができました。

──「フラフープ」では、渚さんの本心が描かれていますね。

私の歌は、“好き”“嫌い”“生きる”“死ぬ”というテーマで描かれているんです。その中をぐるぐる回っていて、思っている最中はすごく辛いのに、考えるのを止めた瞬間、また考えちゃう。その状態がフラフープによく似ているなって思ったんですよね。この曲はすごく短時間でできた曲で、とても荒っぽいんですが、その初期衝動が私らしいなと思い、完成後もそのまま整えず収録したんです。

──いい尖りっぷりですよ。

褒め言葉ですね（笑）。それは自由な初期衝動が詰まっているからだと思うんですよね。デビューしてしまえば、いろんな規制も出るし、売れたいと思うから丸くなってしまう。そこは絶対に避けたいし、黒木渚の中でいいバランスを見つけたいと思っているので、アルバムにはしっかりと“尖り”を入れたいんです。

──その中での一番の“尖り”が「ウェット」ですが。

はい。これは間違いなく尖りまくっています（笑）。この曲は彼氏を殺して自殺した自縛霊が語り手になっているので、もちろんフィクションなんですが、サビで歌っている“辛いことがあるなら生きて人生に復讐しなさい”というのは実際に私が本当に辛かった時に出した答えで。何度も聴いてもらえれば、この曲は衝撃を通り越して、生きる強さを感じてもらえると思うんです。

──最初に聴いた時は衝撃的で驚きました。でも、言いたいことは簡潔で、しっかりしていて…大好きな曲です。

ありがとうございます。今って、自分がリストカットしているとか、何股をかけているとか、開き直ったように言う人が多いじゃないですか。ああいう人って、その根底をちゃんと考えて行動しているのかなって疑問を感じるんです。「ウェット」では、その衝動の先を歌っているので、そのメッセージが少しでも伝わったら嬉しいですね。

──そんな色濃い楽曲の中で、「窓」は異色ですね。

この曲は処女的片想いの曲なので、他の情念を歌っている曲と並べるとすごく浮いていますよね（笑）。好きな人の住む窓を見ながら、あの西日になりたいと思うのは本当に処女的発想で。この気持ちと西日を表現するように音が球体になるようにアレンジを仕上げていったんです。

──あぁ、なんか抽象的だけど、分かるような気がします。温かくて、やさしくて。こんな曲たちが一緒に入っているのは、本当に面白いアルバムになりましたね。

このアルバムでは、11人の女を表現したんです。だからこその、“標本箱”。中にはすごく鋭利なものもありますが、曲を作る立場としてお客さんを引っ張っていくには、普遍的でありながらも、どこか独特でなければいけないし、歌詞も崇高でいながら分かりやすい言葉を選ばなくてはと思っているんです。これからも、このアルバムのような尖った歌をずっと歌い続けていきたいですね。
