ソウル(音楽)を胸に人生を歩み続けるRAYJI、その生きざまを投影したライブを配信!!

自分のスタイルを持っているアーティストは、一つの枠内に閉じ込められることを良しとしない。むしろ、自身の表現の幅を広げるたびに枠をはみ出し続けることから、何時しか小さな世界を飛び出し、自分で無限に枠を広げられる環境を形作りだす。

もともとはバンドのベーシストとして音楽活動を始めたRAYJIも、最初こそ演奏することへ喜びを覚えていたが、音楽が持つ「人の心を揺さぶる」力に目覚めて以降、「自分は音楽を通し、人へどんな影響を与えられるのか」「どうやったら音楽を軸に据えたうえで、人を笑顔や幸せに導けるのか」「自分の表現の可能性を、どんな風に広げていけば良いのか」を、彼はバンド時代から模索しだしていた。それを形にしたのが、「ボランティアやチャリティ活動」という気持ちを軸に据えた行動。そして、ベース演奏の可能性を追求するためベース片手に一人で行った、「47都道府県武者修行ツアー」だった。
所属バンドが解散して以降、RAYJIはソロとして歩みだす。しかも今度はベーシストではなく、「触れた人たちの心を揺さぶる」音楽を介した一人の表現者としての道を彼は進みだした。
作詞/作曲/コンポーズ/歌唱/演奏をすべて一人で手掛けるマルチタスクなアーティストとして活動を始めたのが、2018年8月のこと。「始動ワンマン公演」という形でソロ・アーティストとして活動を宣言して以降、RAYJIは、音楽を介して人と繋がりを求めるため、国内のみならず、積極的に海外へも進出。時に、長期に渡り海外生活を続けながらライブ活動を行うなど、RAYJIは世界を舞台に自身の可能性を求め、少しずつだが支持を得続けてきた。

あれから2年、8月1日(土)にRAYJIは、自宅スタジオからの配信という形を取りながら「RAYJI 2nd anniversary ２周年記念 Digital Concert Live」を行った。本当なら、9月に観客たちを前にしたパーティの開催も決めていたが、コロナ禍の影響により中止に。変わりに配信という形を取った。結果的に、RAYJIの音楽に触れ、心揺さぶられた世界中の人たちが目にする機会にもなった。

壮大なデジロックに乗せ、語るように歌う「Sunrise」から幕を開けたRAYJIのライブ。この歌に詰め込んだ、RAYJIが一人のアーティストとして羽ばたくための強い意志と決意。そこから見えてくる、RAYJIの生きざま。2周年という節目の時期に、改めて自身のソウル(魂)を示す形でステージは始まった。
ベースを片手に演奏。疾走するロックビートに乗せ、同じく自身の生き方を力強く、開放的に歌いあげた「NOT A SLAVE」。強烈かつテクニカルなスラップ演奏も堪能できる、アグレッシブな「Euclid Av」と、曲が進むごとにRAYJIのライブは熱を上げてゆく。

英語を交えたMCも、彼が世界を舞台に活動している姿の現れ。超絶なベースプレイも見せながら、濃密な音の中へエナジーとメッセージを詰め込み歌った「No One...」。転調後に描きだす壮大な世界観にも気持ちが揺さぶられた。
触れた人たちの心を潤し、希望の光を差し込む、哀切なバラードナンバー「TATTOO」。この歌に綴った「俺たちに必要なのは　愛する力だ」という想いは、コロナ禍で心を病み、疲弊した人たちへRAYJIが贈ったメッセージ。優しさを抱きながらも朗々と歌う様にも心が揺さぶられた。

ファンキーでエレクトロな「Tell me the way to get to your heart」では、マイクを手にセクシーに歌うRAYJIの姿も登場。後半には、ベースを手に観ている人たちを煽りだす場面も。続く「You Do You」ではさらに熱を上げ、挑発的なアプローチも見せながら、画面越しの人たちの身体へ熱い刺激を降り注いでいた。その場が何処だろうと、騒ぐ心は抑えられない。そう誘いかけるように、彼はテクニカルなベースプレイも組み込み、観ている人たちの気持ちを踊らせていった。

　MCを挟み、RAYJIは、これまで以上に熱い演奏をぶつけだす。ラッパーとコラボレートした「Face The Music」では、ラッパーのライムする姿も背景の巨大なスクリーンに映しながら、その場でセッションしている様を描きだす。続く、パッション炸裂したファンキーなダンスロックチューン「I'm All Set」を通しRAYJIは歌う、「自分の気持ちに従い、ただ前へ進むんだ」「誰も自分の心は止められない」と。つねに、自分の生き方/生きざまを音楽に刻み込むRAYJIらしい楽曲だ。
　最後もRAYJIは、自分らしく、みずから描いた道を歩み続けると宣言するようにバラードの「We keep on walking」を優しく歌唱。

短い時間の中とはいえ、RAYJIが音楽を背負い、人生を歩み続けている姿を。これからも変わらぬ意志で進み続けていく生きざまを、しっかりと示したライブだった。ぜひ、今からでもRAYJIのライブに触れてくれ。
