CHERRY GIRLS PROJECTの新宿BLAZEワンマン公演決定。激熱でヤバイバンドが爆誕！

CHERRY GIRLS PROJECTを紹介するナレーションの冒頭に「ナンデモアリが出来るほど度胸と才能に恵まれた訳ではない。ナンデモデキナイ普通の女の子たちが苦悩と葛藤を繰り返し・・・」とある。
事務所では衣装も楽曲も与えられず、その名の通りグループ名にCHERRYとあるのは新人の育成装置としての器でしかなかったからだ。唯一の初期メンである来瞳舞夢は言う。「Tシャツと短パンのみ。最初5人で始めたレッスンはすぐに2人に。お客さんがたった1人というライブも何回も経験した。使用する楽曲は事務所の先輩の曲ばかりで正直くじけそうになりました」と。それでも来瞳は粘りを見せ、増員された新人メンバーを牽引。
事務所もそのひた向きな姿に徐々に活動を認めて行くようになり、悲惨なステージデビューから1年後にはAKIBAカルチャーズ劇場での初ワンマンライブをSOLDOUT。2周年の東京FMホールもSOLDOUTさせている。
この時期からプロデューサーに、L'Arc〜en〜Cielなどを手掛け、ヒット曲を数多く世に送り出し続けている岡野ハジメを起用。持ち歌のクオリティは格段に飛躍し今では彼女らが活動する界隈では楽曲派の称号を欲しいままにしている。
そんな彼女たちがこのコロナ禍の中で新たな挑戦を表明。10.20（火）新宿BLAZEで行われる4thワンマンライブに挑み、しかも初のバンドセットで行うというのだ。そしてこのメンバーに誰もが驚くであろう面子を揃えた。
まずギターにループギターの天才と呼ばれるハシグチカナデリヤ。その技術の高さから数々の有名アーティストのバックバンド等で活躍する女性ベーシストの伊藤千明。そして極めつけが伝説のロックバンドBOØWYのドラム高橋まことだ。
BOØWYは氷室京介（V）、布袋寅泰（G）、松井常松（B）、高橋まこと（D）の4人のメンバーで、かつて日本中を熱狂の渦に巻き込んだバンドブームの火付け役的な存在。1988年4月4日、5日に行った解散ライブは2日間で10万人が熱狂。このチケット10万枚はわずか10分で完売。当時は電話予約が主流だった為、チケット争奪戦で東京ドームのある文京区の電話回線がパンクするという事態も引き起こした。解散して32年経つがいまだにアルバムが売れ続けるなど、その人気は今なお色あせない輝きを放っている稀有なバンドだ。
これだけのある意味’’ヤバイ’’面子を揃えたCHERRY GIRLS PROJECTは世間的には全くの無名。度胸も才能も無いと自ら語るチェリガ。ただ年間のライブ本数を見てもわかるようにその熱い情動的な姿勢と、熱量はプロにも負けずとも劣らない。一見無謀とも思える‘’コレシカデキナイ普通の女の子‘’達の新たな挑戦を見届けに新宿BLAZEに行ってみてはどうかだろうか。
