MERRY × lynch.の共闘ツアー、10月2日より開幕！


　MERRYとlynch.の合同開催による『Freaks Addict Tour beyond』が10月2日（水）の大阪BIG CAT公演を皮切りにスタートする。

　北は札幌から南は鹿児島まで、全14公演に及ぶこのツアーは、この2組をメイン・アクトに据え、defspiral、DIAURA、彼女 in the display、FAKE FACEといった共演者を迎えながら開催されるもの。サイズ感からすればライヴハウス主体のイベント・ツアーということになるが、むしろ欧米で夏季などによく行なわれるフェス形式のツアーに近い様相のものといえそうだ。

　MERRYとlynch.は2012年の1月から2月にかけて『Freaks Addict Tour』を行なっており、当然ながらその際に双方が刺激と満足の両方を手に入れたからこそ、今回こうして規模を拡大しながらの再共闘へと至ったわけである。両バンドのメンバーたちが口を揃えて言うのは「楽しさばかりではない収穫が山ほどあった」ということ、そして「このツアーを通じて獲得することになるエネルギーをもって、“次"に向かいたい」ということだ。

　ガラ（vo）の腰椎椎間板ヘルニア治療のため長らく活動休止を強いられてきたMERRYにとっては、去る8月10日に行なわれた日比谷野外大音楽堂での公演が復活の場となったが、そこを新たな出発点としながらの活動が、この『Freaks Addict Tour beyond』をもって加速することになる。彼らには11月6日に「ZERO -ゼロ-」と題されたニュー・シングルのリリースが、そして同月からは自身のツアーが控えており、来年1月の同ツアーのファイナルでは、自己初のSHIBUYA-AX二夜公演に挑むことになる。

　また、lynch.の側も、この8月に『EXODUS-EP』という今後の音楽的方向性を占ううえでも重要な意味を持つことになりそうな最新音源を発表しており、それに伴うツアーを先頃終了させたばかりだが、すでに次なるフル・アルバムに向けての曲作りも進行中で、12月には自己初となる東名阪でのZeppツアーが待ち受けている。「ハードルを高めに設定しながら、目の前にあるものを貪欲にむさぼり食っていく」という活動姿勢もまた両者の共通点のひとつなのだ。

　ここでひとつ事情説明しておきたいのが、このツアーへのMERRYの参加発表が遅れていたことについて。その理由は、やはりガラの腰の様態にある。単発の公演ならまだしも、彼自身がすぐさまツアーでの連夜公演に対応可能なのかという点については、当初は疑問視されていた部分があり、場合によっては出演日を絞り込まざるを得ない状況だったのだという。結果、こうして全公演への出演が確定に至ったのは、経過が良好だからでもあるし、ガラ自身がそれを強く望んだからでもある。公演形態はどうあれツアー自体の実施が先に決まっていたためツアー・タイトルだけが先に解禁を迎え、一部のファンの間には「何故、MERRY側からのツアー参加発表が遅いのか？」といった疑問も広がっていたが、こうした事情ゆえにご理解いただきたいところだ。

　今回のツアー実施にあたって両バンドが目指すのは、ジャンルの壁を壊すことでも、ひとつのカテゴリーを守り抜くことでもなく、世代も成り立ちも音楽観も異なったバンド同士で本気でぶつかりあいながら、新たな化学反応を起こし、安直なカテゴライズが無意味である事実を証明すること。だからこそ、お互いが好敵手であると自覚しあう関係にある両バンドに限定することなく、他にも共演バンドを加えることになったのだ。同時に「単独ツアーでもなかなか頻繁には行きにくい地域にまで、敢えてこのツアーで足を延ばすこと」を重んじた結果が、こうした密度濃い公演スケジュールにも繋がっている。なお、各バンドのメンバーたちの今現在の想いは、このツアー中に販売される公式パンフレットに掲載されるMERRYとlynch.による5本の“パート別対談"のなかでもたっぷりと語られている。

　『Freaks Addict Tour beyond』は11月15日、SHIBUYA-AXにて最終着地点に到達することになる。このツアーが各バンドにもたらすことになる新たな刺激を、あなたにも是非、体感してほしい。
