サイコ・ル・シェイム、15周年復活ライヴが華々しく開幕

昨年10月2日のデビュー記念日に復活宣言をしたサイコ・ル・シェイムが2月11日、豊洲PITにてにて復活ライヴ『TOKYO PARALLEL WORLD～はじまりの奇跡～』を開催した。

2002年にシングル「愛の唄」でメジャーデビューを飾り、当時のV系バンドの中でもひと際異彩を放ち、衣装、コンセプト、エンターテイメント性など、独自のアイデンティティーを駆使したパフォーマンスで新たな旋風を巻き起こしたサイコ・ル・シェイム。2006年に惜しまれつつも活動休止したが、結成15周年を迎えた昨年10月2日のデビュー記念日に復活ライヴを発表。発表された3公演のチケットは全て即日完売するなど、ファンの期待も高まる中、ついに2月11日、豊洲PITにて華々しく復活を遂げた。

初日の『TOKYO PARALLEL WORLD～はじまりの奇跡～』。彼らが幕開け1曲目として選んでいたのは、下手ギターのLidaとベースのseekは楽器をスタンバイしプレイするも、上手ギターのAYAとドラムのYURAサマは、ボーカルのDAISHIを挟み、ダンスで魅せるというスタイルの同期曲「激愛メリーゴーランド」。

今や、大衆的な人気を誇る“エアーバンド"ゴールデンボンバーの出現により、バンドでありながら楽器を持たずパフォーマンスで魅せるというステージングは珍しくないご時世となったが、彼らサイコ・ル・シェイムは15年も前からこのスタイルを個性としてきたバンドなのである。

さらに、彼らを語るのに特筆すべきことはもう1つ。“スーパーコスプレバンド"と称された、キャラクターが最大限に活かされたカラフルでポップな衣装である。結成当初、楽曲の方向性よりも、まず最初に話し合ったのが“衣装"だったというほど、衣装は彼らにとって何よりも一番大切なモノなのだ。中でもバンドのアイコンとも言える女キャラのパイオニアであるAYAと、キワモノキャラを務めるseekの存在は一際目を惹く存在。

またこれも、現代のファッションリーダーと言われるきゃりーぱみゅぱみゅや、ゆるキャラブームの先駆けと言っても過言では無い。まさしく。時代がサイコ・ル・シェイムに追いついたのである。

しかし。彼らの強みはキャラクターを活かしたエンタテイメント性の高いパフォーマンスだけではない。AYAとYURAサマの先導によって、ペンライトで埋め尽くされたオーディエンスが揃いの振り付けで盛り上がる様子は、新たな時代の幕開けを予感させるモノだったが、何よりも素晴しいのは、どこまでもディープで激しくありながらも、歌えるメロディーをしっかりと中心に置いている音楽性の高さだ。ヘヴィメタルをルーツとするメインコンポーザーのLidaが生み出す楽曲センスは、実にクオリティの高いモノである。この日も、そんな激しさとメロウさを共存させた独自のサウンドでライヴを盛り上げていった。ほとんどのシングル曲を網羅したセットリストは、色濃く当時を蘇らせる時間でもあったと言える。

中盤で差し込まれた“お芝居"は、夢も希望もなく現代の街をふらつく若者DAISHIが、そんな人間が迷い込むという【裏の東京】であるTOKYO PARALLEL WORLDにトリップ。パラレルトラベラーとなって、裏東京の住人である新宿カジノ町を仕切るギャンブラーキング・YURAサマ、原宿ホロスコープストリートの占いババ・AYA、上野ミュージックサファリパークのパンクモンスター・seek、水道橋コロシアムで戦う男爵レスラーIII世・Lidaと出逢い、5人はサイコ・ル・シェイムというバンドで一緒に夢を追いかけることとなる物語。まさに、それはこの日のサブタイトル『～はじまりの奇跡～』を描いたドラマだった。

アンコールでは、インディーズ時代から歌い続けてきた彼らの代表曲「聖～excalibur～剣」「Murder Death Kill」そして、「僕たちは5人は、この曲に助けられて頑張ってきたし、この先もこの曲を胸に頑張っていきます」というDAISHI の一言から、いつもライヴを締めくくっていた彼らとオーディエンスにとって大切な曲「Remembrance」に繋げられ、幕を閉じた。
サイコ・ル・シェイム——。2015年のバンドシーンの中で、そのバンド名はとても新鮮に響くが、時代は今、彼らを求めている。そう感じた夜だった。

『TOKYO PARALLEL WORLD』と題されたこの記念ライヴは、この後Zepp DiverCity Tokyoに舞台を移す。14日の『～思い出のあの時へ～』、15日の『～あの場所を夢見て～』では、いったいどんなドラマが描かれていくことになるのだろうか？　そしてこの先、サイコ・ル・シェイムは、どんな展開を魅せてくれることになるのか？　期待は膨らむばかりだ。今週末の残り2公演も大いに注目である。
なお、この2月11日豊洲PITのライヴの模様は、4月にWOWOWでの放送が決定している。
