吉川晃司、10年振りのライブハウスツアーがスタート

吉川晃司にとって約10年ぶりとなるライブハウスツアー『KIKKAWA KOJI 30th Anniversary Live "SINGLES＋ RETURNS"』が、2月28日のZepp DiverCity TOKYOからスタートした。

ツアー・タイトルに“RETURNS"という言葉が入っているのはデビュー30周年を記念して開催されたツアー『KIKKAWA KOJI LIVE 2014 30th Anniversary LIVE 「SINGLES+」』の続編的、発展形的なニュアンスのあるステージだから。1999年に行なわれたホールツアー『CONCERT TOUR 1999 HOT ROD MAN』の翌年に行なわれたライブハウスツアー『HOT ROD MAN "RETURNS" LIVE 2000』で“RETURNS"という言葉が使われていた前例がある。どうやら“RETURNS"はライブハウス・ツアーで使われる法則があるようだ。

今回のツアーの大きな特徴はライブハウスであることとともに、前回のツアーとかぶりなしで選曲されていること。2DAYSという形態で開催された前回のツアーも、その直前に行なわれた『KIKKAWA KOJI Birthday Night "B-SIDE+"』もまったくかぶりなしの構成になっていた。3ステージ合わせて約70曲。今回はさらにその70曲以外の曲から選曲されている。つまり4ステージかぶりなし。今回のライブハウスツアーも合わせて、トータルで実に91曲ということになる。ひたすら歌いまくって、30年を祝っていく。やるならばとことんというところも彼らしい。

「去年30周年で70曲やって、きっと吉川は吉川晃司に腹いっぱいになるだろうと思っていたんですが、そうでもなくて。まだ食えるな、もっと歌いたいなと思い、“RETURNS"をやることにしました。今回も1曲もかぶりなしです。そうすると、地味になるんじゃないかと思う人もいるかもしれませんが、これがなかなか。案外いいわ」

という吉川の言葉どおり、1曲ごとにイントロで大きなどよめきが起こり、曲が終わった瞬間に大歓声と拍手に包まれていった。サプライズの連続。そして音楽そのものの楽しさが詰まった充実したステージとなった。菊地英昭（Guitar）、小池ヒロミチ（Bass）、ホッピー神山（Keyboards）、菅原弘明（Keyboards & Guitar）、菅沼孝三（Drums）というお馴染みの凄腕のバンド・メンバーとともに、リラックスしながらも緩急自在のステージを展開していく。エッジの効いたソリッドなロックンロールもあれば、深みのある歌声が染みてくるナンバーもある。ライブハウスということで、凝った演出を施すのではなくて、1曲1曲の歌そのもので勝負していくステージ。シンバルキックが炸裂したのは「CLOCKWORK RUNNERS（時計じかけの走者達）」。2011年の東京ドーム公演でも演奏されなかったCOMPLEXナンバーだ。この曲を始めとして、「雨のTraveller」「Dance with Memories」などなど、レア曲も満載。シングル曲でありながら、近年披露されなかった「ギラギラ」や「KEY　胸のドアをあばけ」も演奏された。

久しぶりに演奏されることで、新鮮な輝きを放つ曲もあった。この曲はこんな表情も持っていたのかという発見がたくさんある“温故知新"という言葉がふさわしいステージ。「RAMBLING MAN」「A-LA-BA・LA-M-BA」では会場内が一体となって、弾けていった。熱気がかたまりとなってうねっていくこの感覚はオール・スタンディングならではだ。「みんなが元気だということが力になる。みなさんにもらったエネルギーを返せるように、頑張らなきゃっていう気持ちになります」との発言もあった。客席の笑顔がそのままパワフルな歌やシンバル・キックに変換されていくということだろう。

オールスタンディングということで、見えにくい人もいたのではないかという思いから、最後の曲は台の上に立って歌われた。ライブハウスという空間だからこそ、よりダイレクトに伝わってくるものがある。熱さと温かさとが共存する夜となった。歌いまくりのツアーはまだまだ続いていく。
