【a flood of circle】“LOVE”と同義語の“FUCK”を突き出したロック作！

　レーベル移籍第一弾。そのタイトルはずばり“FUCK FOREVER”である。バンドの今を真空パックした痛快無比な作品について、佐々木亮介（Vo&Gu）が大いに語ってくれた。

──前作『LOVE IS LIKE A ROCK’N’ROLL』以降、何かしら心境の変化はありました？

「前作は姉さん（HISAYO／Ba）が入った初めてのアルバムだったんですけど、バンドの状況としてはすごく良いです。ただ、俺個人は前作以降クズみたいな状態が続いて…クズ期でした。」

──クズ期？（笑）

「単純に体調が悪い時期が続いちゃって、昨年の11月から3カ月ぐらい。気合い入れなきゃ！と思って、クズすぎる自分に書いた歌詞が『FUCK FOREVER』なんですよ。震災以降に思ったことは前作でひとつ完結したけど、その後に自分を掘り下げる中で『FUCK FOREVER』『KINZOKU Bat』『理由なき反抗（The Rebel Age）』の歌詞ができて、何が言いたいか見えてきました。」

──その3曲が今作『FUCK FOREVER』の柱になったと？

「そうですね。去年は『I LOVE YOU』という曲を書きたかったし、『感光』では生命力についての歌詞を書いたけど、それ以降の世界に何が言えるかなと考えたら…自分の鬱屈した部分と二ュースを見てもおかしいな？と思うことが多くなって。個人的な話になりますけど、僕のお婆ちゃんが仙台に住んでて、斜面に家があってその地区が崩れちゃったんですよ。でも、ある地区は税金で処理されるけど、線引きされたある地区からは処理されなかったり。外に向けても“FUCK”を言わなきゃいけない時期が来たのかなと。」

──いろんな心境や状況が重なったんですね。

「僕は普段の暮らしの中から書き出すものがブルースだと思ってるんですよ、音楽スタイルとかじゃなくて。」

──その考えは結成当時から？

「うん、ブルースは生々しさが一番大事で、それにドキッとしたんですよ。自分もそういう音楽をやりたくて。」

──ブルースというと、どの辺ですか？

「ロバート・ジョンソン、ジョン・リー・フッカー、もっと前だとベッシー・スミスとか。例えば昔のブルースを聴いて、時代が違いすぎて共感できない部分もあるけど、その時代のルールに対してムカついてるとか、その気持ちは理解できるじゃないですか。ブルースは絶望をスタート地点にした曲も多いけど、踊れて楽しい雰囲気も伝わってくるから、そこに音楽の救いがあるなぁと思って。」

──怒りや暗い歌詞を綴っていても、そこから希望の光が見えるというか。まさに今作はそういう作品ですね。

「ジャケットもインパクトがあるから誤解されるかもしれないけど、歌詞を読んでもらえれば分かってもらえるかなと。僕の音楽の作り方は何かを対象化するんじゃなくて、自分がベッタリくっ付いてくるんですよ。」

──なるほど。特に表題曲は抜けが良くて、すごく良い曲ですね。作品自体も風通しがいいし、曲調も自由だなと（笑）。

「ははは、そうですね。レーベル移籍一発目だし、パンチのあるかたちで今を凝縮したくて。」

──「The Cat Is Hard-Boiled」はバンジョーを使ったトラッド色の強いナンバーで、これも新鮮でした。

「ああいう曲調もやりたくて。あと『Summertime Blues Ⅱ』ではバイオリンを入れたりとか。今回は自分の言いたいことが固まっていたから、音楽の部分では逆に楽しもうと思って。演奏も以前はバラバラで録っていたけど、同じ部屋でバンドでがっつり録った空気感を大事にしたかったんですよ。そのカタマリ感も今回の歌詞とリンクしていると思います。」
