THE NOVEMBERSがacid androidとの共同企画にてL'Arc〜en〜Cielの「cradle」カバーを発表

8月11日（木・祝）に川崎CLUB CITTA‘で開催されるacid androidとTHE NOVEMBERSのコラボイベントにて、THE NOVEMBERSがL'Arc～en～Cielの楽曲をカバーすることが発表された。

今回、THE NOVEMBERSがカバーする楽曲は、yukihiro作曲の「cradle」。彼らが公の場でL'Arc～en～Cielの楽曲をカバーするのは初めてのことになる。L'Arc～en～Ciel好きを公言している彼らが、どのような解釈をしてこの曲をアレンジするのか、また一つ見逃せないステージとなるに違いない。

また、この日限定のspecial sessionで演奏する楽曲もacid android/THE NOVEMBERSそれぞれofficial twitterで発表されている。土屋昌巳（g）を筆頭に、vo: KENT（Lillies and Remains）、 b: 高松浩史（THE NOVEMBERS）、key: TOM（PLASTICZOOMS）、そしてdr: yukihiro という錚々たる顔ぶれでイギリスのスタジアムバンド・Depeche modeのカバーを行なうのだ。発表された楽曲は、「Never Let Me Down Again」「Enjoy The Silence」「Behind the Wheel」「Personal Jesus」「Walking In My Shoes」の全5曲。Depeche modeを通してつながった今回の出演者たち。どのようなイベントになるか、8月11日が待ちきれない。

THE NOVEMBERSとしてL'Arc～en～Cielの曲をカバーするなら「cradle」。昔からそう決めていました。
最初に聴いたのは中学二年生の頃で、当時の自分にとってそれは全く新しい音楽体験でした。
人は、音楽を聴くとき様々な感情が呼び起こされると思います。
楽しい、嬉しい、悲しい、寂しい、あるいは、怒りや憎しみ…。
ただ、そういったわかりやすく名前のつきやすい感情ではない
「得体の知れない静かな感情/心の動き」を初めて体験したのが「cradle」でした。
近い表現でいうなら、深淵で初めて自我と遭遇したような、そんな気分でした。それまで聴いてきた音楽と違う、
なんならそれまで聴いていたL'Arc～en～Cielのどの曲とも違う感動がある。
その正体が知りたくて数え切れないくらい「cradle」を繰り返し聴いていました。
この体験が、後に音楽を作るようになる自分へ与えた影響は計り知れません。
音楽を、単なる娯楽以上のものとして、特別な感情を抱き始めたきっかけだったかもしれません。
僕は相変わらずL'Arc～en～Cielの一ファンですが、今回一音楽家として、自分なりの回答をカバーという形で表現します。
作曲者であるyukihiroさんの目の前で。痺れるぜ。
