GLAY、『Red Bull Air Race Chiba 2017』SPライブにて5万5000人が熱狂！

GLAYが大会アンバサダーを務める『Red Bull Air Race Chiba 2017』にてスペシャルライブを開催し、来場した5万5000人を熱狂の渦に巻き込んだ。

大会は千葉県立海浜幕張公園にて6月3日（土）～4日（日）に開催され、GLAYのライブは決勝が行なわれた4日（日）の大会終了後に開催された。日本人パイロットの室屋義秀が優勝したこともあり、会場の熱気が冷めやらぬ中、GLAYのスペシャルライブが幕を開けた。

SEと共にメンバーが登場すると、オープニングナンバーである最新曲「the other end of the globe」がスタート。この日のライブではJIROが世界で一本だけのレッドブル・エアレース仕様オリジナルベースを抱えて登場。続けて『一緒に室屋選手に届けようぜー！』と「SOUL LOVE」を披露。冒頭MCではTERUから『室屋選手が優勝し最高です！　GLAYを初めて見る人もたくさんいると思いますが、是非楽しんでください！』とGLAY屈指の名バラード「HOWEVER」を歌い出すと、会場内がどよめき、観客は夕日をバックに彩られたステージとともに誰しもがGLAYの演奏に耳を傾けた。

『1999年に幕張で20万人ライブを行なったんですが、それに匹敵する光景です。海沿いというのも最高です。』と大会と同地区でGLAYが99年に開催し20万人を動員した『GLAY EXPO 99 SURVIVAL』を懐かしんだ後に「誘惑」を演奏。最後に大会テーマソングとして書き下ろした「XYZ」がスタートするとサプライズでエアレースの機体が海上を舞い、5万5000人の観客は歓喜と共に、GLAYのスペシャルライブ、そして大会のフィナーレを感動的に締めくくった。
