【ギルガメッシュ】はちゃめちゃにバカなことやって、カッコ良いと思わせる

　何かと話題な13日連続公演『東京Sadistic～ぶっとおし13days～』を目前に控えたギルガメッシュが、2011年に行なわれた『凱旋公演“CHIBA”』のライヴDVDを発表する。

──地元・市川市文化会館 大ホールで行なわれた『凱旋公演“CHIBA”』が映像化されますが、改めて感じることはありますか？

愁 映像を観てる時は不思議な感覚でした。“あそこでやったんだったなぁ”って、遠い昔のことのように感じられたんですけど、まだ1年しか経ってなくて。

左迅 ギルガメッシュはライヴハウスを想定したり、ホールを想定して、その時やりたいライヴの曲を作るバンドなんですけど、それらをまとめてひとつのかたちにできたと思います。ライヴハウスを意識した第一部と、ものすごく広い会場を想定した第二部、楽曲の色がはっきり出るバンドだなって実感しました。

──あの場所にいた人間としては興奮が蘇りました。しかし、「evolution」での弐さんの縄跳びは報われていない…

愁 映像スタッフも笑ってましたからね。

左迅 全然見えねぇもんな…無駄な努力（笑）。

愁 それもギルガメッシュっぽくていいんじゃないですか。よく分かんないけど、力を注ぐという。

──振り返ってみると、この直後に行なわれた海外ツアーやZepp Tokyoへの弾みを付けるライヴだったんじゃないかと。

左迅 そうですね。『凱旋公演“CHIBA”』は、新たなスタートを切るという感覚でやってたんで。

──そして、突如発表された13日連続公演『東京Sadistic～ぶっとおし13days～』ですが。

愁 “13日間ぶっとおしでライヴしよう”って意見が出て、面白いんじゃないのってメンバーみんなが食い付いたらゴーしましょうよってぐらいで…直感を大事にしていた時期ですかね、何するにも。新曲だけで『JACK IN THE BOX 2011』に出た時も、“どうせ新曲披露するなら全部新曲でやっちゃえばいい”とか。まだ歌詞もアレンジも完璧じゃない時に決断して、言ったからには自分で自分のケツを引っ叩いて完成度を高めていって…そういう感じでひらめきを大事にしました。

──13日ともに内容が異なりますが、“このアイデアよく出たな”という日はありますか？

左迅 “バンドやろう”dayじゃないですか？

愁 『BANDやろうぜ』って雑誌があったじゃないですか。それと『JACK IN THE BOX』『Over the Edge』でセッションバンドを組むので、てんやわんやし始める手前ぐらいの時期だったんですけど、各々がセッションバンド組むのも面白いかなと。バンド結成時の気持ちが蘇ってくれたらいいのかなって。いちからバンドをやるっていうのはこれだけ大変なんだぞと。

──各バンドともメンツがすごいことになりましたね。

愁 千葉ンド（左迅バンド）が豪華過ぎだろ！

左迅 ヴォーカルじゃない人をヴォーカルにしたかったんで、俺が大ファンの芸人・ハライチさんにオファーしました。絶対断られると思ったんですけど、“いいじゃないですか！ やりましょうよ”って（笑）。ギルガメッシュの勢いが伝わって、このメンバーでやれるのかなって。リリースも特になくて“ギルガメッシュって何だろう？”って、改めてバンドと向き合った時期があったんです。それで出た答えが“唖然とするぐらいはちゃめちゃにバカなことやって、カッコ良いと思わせるのがギルガメッシュだろう”と。突き抜けた感はありますよ。バンドを続けているとちょっとずつ観る方向がずれてくる部分もあると思うんですけど、それを修正できたんで何もかも吹っ切れて、今は何も怖くないですね。無敵状態です。
