the band apart、□□□が新作同発を記念してインストアイベントを開催

the band apartのアルバム『Memories to Go』、□□□（クチロロ）のミニアルバム『LOVE』が7月19日に同時発売。そのインストアイベントが7月29日にタワーレコード新宿店で開催された。

この日は生憎の雨の中、それでもたくさんの人が詰めかけ、ライヴスペースは観客で埋め尽くされていた。17時45分頃、まずは□□□が登場。三浦康嗣（Vo&Key）、村田シゲ（Ba）に加え（いとうせいこうは欠席）、アコギ、ホーン、カホンを持ったサポートメンバー3名を従えた編成。「Tokyo」で始まると、“時間短いのでメドレーで行く”と村田が宣言し、「パーティー」「聖者の行進」とテンポ良く進む。すると、観客も身を乗り出し、前方ではハンドクラップで曲に参加している人たちもいた。それから、いとうせいこうの語りを入れた「Japanese Boy」を披露。ノリのいい爽やかな音色に、涼しげな三浦の歌声はひときわ輝いていた。その後も時にムーディー、時に郷愁を誘う美メロで、抜群のポップ性を発揮し続けた。

しばしの休憩を挟み、the band apartの4人がステージに現れる。新作から「find a way」で幕を開け、透明度のある荒井岳史（Vo&Gu）の歌声に耳を奪われる。アコースティック編成とはいえ、ロックの熱量をキープした演奏力も聴き応え十分。途中、荒井の腰かけていた椅子が下がるハプニングもあり、会場は和やかな空気に包まれた。続いてシュガー・ベイブの「DOWN TOWN」をプレイし、バンアパの音楽性とも共鳴する好カバーに心酔。それから「ZION TOWN」とつなぎ、緻密かつ激しいバンドアンサンブルにも驚かされた。アンコールに応えると、メンバー内で相談したのち、初期の名曲「Eric.W」がここで炸裂。集まったファンを大いに喜ばせ、アコースティックでも変わらぬバンアパ節に大満足した人が多かったに違いない。
