シド、2年ぶりの全国ツアースタート

シドの約2年ぶりの全国ツアー「SID TOUR 2021 〜peep of 2022〜」が、9月3日（メンバーズクラブ限定）・9月12日の東京・Zepp Haneda公演よりスタートした。

「本当に大変なことや嫌なことばかりだけど、中にはいいこともあって、こうやってライブに立つことの大切さ、そしてみんなに直接会うことの大切さ、これに俺たちが気づけたことはよかったなと思っています。
もともと俺たちはライブ1本1本全力でやっていたんですけど、その全力でやっていたもっと奥深くのものを、このコロナ期間で俺たちの中から引きずり出されたような気がします」

9月12日公演でのアンコール1曲目を歌い終えたマオ（vo）は、2020年から続くコロナ禍での活動を通して向き合った思いをこんなふうに言葉にした。
マオの言う“もっと奥深くのもの”とは何か、さらに言葉は続く。

「だからこのツアーは、きっと今まで以上に俺たち4人の魂の叫びが一人一人にしっかりと伝わったらいいなと思います。
みんなの魂の叫びも今日すごく俺に、メンバーに、伝わってきています。俺たちが一つに結ばれた感じがしています。ありがとう」

ライブを開催すること、それ自体に賛否の声が向けられる現状がある中で、マオは今回のツアーの意義をそう提示したのだ。思いっきり中指を立てたり、満面の笑顔でピースサインを掲げたり、歌や演奏以外でも感情を形にして表現するメンバーと、声は出せなくても手を上げたり大きな拍手で思いをメンバーに届ける観客。
双方の熱い思いが行き交う会場には、一体感と大きな笑顔が溢れていた。

ツアーが始まったばかりなので、この記事ではセットリストや演出の詳細は極力避けるが、聞けば初日のメンバーズクラブ限定公演と2日目の12日の公演とではセットリストも違ったそうで、きっと彼らはこれ以降のツアーも一期一会の内容で楽しませてくれるに違いない。
「ANNIVERSARY」や「ほうき星」「循環」など、会場のテンションを一気に引き上げるアッパーチューンや、Shinji（G）、明希（B）、ゆうや（Dr）の卓越したアンサンブルと、情感豊かなマオのヴォーカルが映えるバラードナンバーなど、幅の広いシドの楽曲をギュッと凝縮した構成で魅せる。
特に注目すべきは、7月に配信リリースしたばかりの明希作曲の「慈雨のくちづけ」の初生演奏と、新曲2曲の初披露。
「慈雨のくちづけ」はオリエンタルな調べに乗せた慈愛に満ちたマオの歌声、Shinjiのエモーショナルなギターソロ、雄大さを感じさせる明希のベースライン、そして感情を掻き立てるゆうやのドラミングと、どれをとってもドラマチックで大きな余韻を残した。
新曲の2曲はどちらもミディアムテンポで、1曲目はイントロのサックスの音色が哀愁を誘う、ゆうや作曲の歌謡ロックナンバー。
マオは「ちょっと懐かしいような曲調で、なおかつ今のシドをしっかりと表現するような曲です」と紹介した。
2曲目は、切なさと温かみが同居する秋ナンバー。「この曲はメロディをしっかり考えて作った曲です」と作曲者のShinji。
曲中、観客もクラップで参加できるところもポイントだ。
「バンドのメンバー3人が作曲できるってやっぱり強いよね」とマオもMCで語っていたが、改めて3人のコンポーザーのいるシドの楽曲の多彩さを感じさせられるステージだったと思う。
さらに、今年5月に河口湖ステラシアターで開催した「SID LIVE 2021 -Star Forest-」でも披露したShinji、明希、ゆうやによるソロコーナーでも、それぞれの鮮やかな技巧と際立つ個性を見せつけていた。

「一緒にもっともっと夢見ていこう！諦めんなよ！諦めんなよ！俺たちは諦めないからな！」。ファンへ向けて、そして自分たちにも言い聞かせるようにマオは叫んでいた。
“今朝発の 羽に乗り 飛び越えた未来は 想像もつかない“──旅立ちの場所であるこの羽田で聴いた「one way」は格別であった。
タイトルの「〜peep of 2022〜」に託したのはきっと、未来への希望だろう。
光ある未来への架け橋となるこのツアーを、メンバーにもファンにも存分に楽しんできてもらいたいと心から思う。
