　「脳内を具現化する」映像を、つねにMVの中に具現化し続けている映像制作集団。それが、元ヴィジュアル系バンドマンたちが集まり誕生した少数精鋭の映像クリエイターチーム"crap dolly"だ。
活動を始めてから5年。ヴィジュアル系バンドのMV制作が多くなっているのも、「映える格好よさ」「耽美や狂気という要素を具象化」してゆく手腕に、同じ感覚や美的センスを覚えるアーティストたちが多いことから。
彼らが多用する"VFXやCGを多く使用したトリッキーな映像美"は、観ている人たちの感覚を刺激し、感情を掻き立てる。リフを刻むように刺激的な映像の数々を次々と映し出す手腕は、ヘドバンしたくなるときと同じような興奮を心の中に掻き立てる。その映像効果は、ライブ中に脳内を駆けめぐる興奮や高揚した感情と同じ。そこへ共鳴した表現者たちが、"crap dolly"へMVなど映像制作を一任している。

もちろん、彼らの表現は幅広い。感情を真っ直ぐにぶつけるロックバンドや、心泣き濡れる歌を届けるポップス系のグループまで、トリッキーな映像手腕を使わずとも、映し出すアーティストたちを活かす、”感情の揺れを伝える映像”を多く作りあげている。
MVの制作が主にはなるが、YouTuber用の番組映像の制作も行えば、ゲーム関連のPV制作も積極的に行うように、2Dや3Dの映像を通し、観ている人たちの期待を煽る作品も多く手がけている。つまり、独自性を持ちながらも、多種多様なニーズに応えるセンスを備えてるということだ。

"crap dolly"の中心となる映像ディレクターの黒川優一は、過去にSignalというヴィジュアル系バンドのボーカルとして活動。同じく映像ディレクターの源依織は、Phobia・Lamiel cocklobin・Femme Fataleでギターを担当してきた元ミュージシャン。とくに彼ら2人の美的センスが、 "crap dolly"の創り出す映像の特色になっている。

他にも、東京メトロの車内CM、福島のスポーツジム「MIRAIZ BODY」のTVCMなど、要望があれば幅広く映像制作を手掛けている。企業案件から、バンド単位、YouTuberなどの個人からの依頼まで幅広く対応。その範囲も、音楽に限らず、映像を用いてアピールしたい案件であれば何でも対応している。

「XANVALA結成当時、何なら前のバンドからお世話になっています。映像に関しては黒川さんに任せれば大丈夫ってくらいの信頼を持っていますね。
それも毎回の作品、曲に対しての念入りな打ち合わせを積み重ねて来たからだと思います。中々ここまで打ち合わせをしてくれる監督はいないんじゃないかなと。
映像と曲がシンクロするにはバンド側と映像クリエイターが『何を具現化したいのか』ってすり合わせが何よりも大切だと思っていて、作品に対してのミーティングをどんなに忙しい時期でもコンスタントに取り組んでくれるcrap dollyは自分の中で作品を一緒に作り上げる理想のパートナーだと思っています。
何より今では何でも聞いてくる自分の兄貴的な存在で(笑)何か悩み事とかあると相談しちゃったりする位の存在でして。
いつの間にかそれくらいバンドに親身になってくれる映像チームなんじゃないかなと思いますね。これもバンドの大変さをわかってくれるV系バンドマンが集まった映像チームだから成し得れる事なんだと思います。
