アンド、メンバー全員で作り上げた感覚

ビジュアルロック界でも、ひと際ラウドで中毒性の高いアンドがメジャーシーンに上陸！　“平成23～24年度・宣戦布告8大任務”も発令され、まずは足がかりとしてシングル「BLAZE」をリリースする。


──メジャーデビュー決定時の率直な感想はいかがでしたか？

キリ 憧れのバンドもいる世界なので、昔はメジャーに行きたいという気持ちはありました。でも、アンドの活動を続けていくうちに、目指す世界の違いから以前のような強い憧れは抱かなくなりましたね。メジャーで活動するとしても音楽性や見た目、方向性は絶対このままで行きたかったので。それが今回、同じ目標や世界観を共有できる方たちと巡り会えたので、まだビジュアル系すら知らない人にアンドを知ってもらえる良い機会だし、これから自分たちのヘヴィでカッコ良い音楽を訴えていきたいです。

郁磨 他とは混じり合いたくないですね。常に異物でいたいというか。それが自分たちの個性だと思うので。

KAJI 今はただ「BLAZE」がどれだけの破壊力を持っているのかってことが楽しみですね。テンポが良いから自然とテンションも上がって、ライヴで叩けなくてもいいやって感じで思い切りドラムを叩いてます。

──メジャー仕様で万人受けする曲ではなく、シーンの根底を覆すような激しいロックナンバーに仕上がっていますよね。

郁磨 テーマは“衝撃”です。自分たちがこれまでの活動で培ってきたハードでコアな部分を出したくて、「BLAZE」を作りました。

けん でも、最初は“これでシングル出すぞ！”って感じではなくて。何て言うか…メンバーの中ではちょっと笑える感じの曲だったんですよね、“こんなことやるの!?”って。それがプレイしていくにつれて“おっ！　今の良いね”って、どんどん力が入り出して。「BLAZE」の作曲は僕ですが、アレンジひとつとってもいろんな要素で構成されてるし、音色にも個性があって、メンバー全員で作り上げた感覚なんですよね。

──歌詞は、これから大きく成長していくアンドの決意表明とも取れる内容だと思いました。

郁磨 バンドを立ち上げた時から、この4年間ずっと軸にある思いで…やっぱり個性の強いバンドを続けるからには、常に壁を乗り越えなきゃいけなくて。それはバンドじゃなくても、例えばAGENT（ファン）たちの身の回りでも障害や障壁はあって、そういうのをどんどんぶっ壊していきたかった。自分たちの信じた道でもあるので、だったら認められるまでがむしゃらにやるしかないっていう。このタイミングだからこそ、余計にこの言葉が響いてくるのもあるんですけど、決して特別な内容ではないです。ただ、《awake another sun》って歌詞には、このフィールドだからこその思いがあって。誰からも愛されるキラキラした太陽みたいな存在の人もいると思うんですけど、なかなか溶け込めないちょっとアングラな感じの人もいるじゃないですか。そういう人たちの道標というか、アングラの中の太陽じゃないですけど、アンドが別次元のパイオニアになれたらなって気持ちを含んでいます。

──2曲目「another face」は、PECOさんが作詞作曲ともに担当されていますね。

PECO イメージとしては、精神的なものにしたいなって。精神的であり、もっと奥深いところに何かが隠れているような。実際に録る時はイメージしていたものにプラスαが足されて、「BLAZE」の激しさとは違う、じわじわと熱っぽさが広がっていく妖しさが出て良かったです。

けん あと、3曲目の「Dear Liar」は「BLAZE」ありきで考えました。「BLAZE」がハードな俺たちの核とするならば、俺らはこういうのもできるぜっていう変化球的な感じですかね。メロディーをしっかり聴かせた上でのハードさを聴いてもらいたいです。
