BUMP OF CHICKEN、「3月のライオン」と前代未聞のコラボ！

白泉社の青年コミック誌「ヤングアニマル」で好評連載中、2014 年には第18回手塚治虫文化賞マンガ大賞を受賞した傑作マンガ「3月のライオン」と、全国20公演・25万人を動員した全国ツアー「WILLPOLIS 2014」を終えたばかりのBUMP OF CHICKENがコラボレーションすることが決定した。

プロジェクト名は「3月のライオン meets BUMP OF CHICKEN」。羽海野チカがBUMP OF CHICKENの楽曲の熱烈なファンだったこと、そしてBUMP OF CHICKENのメンバーが「3月のライオン」を熟読する読者だったことから、このプロジェクトはスタートした。

お互いの作品へのリスペクトを余すことなく表現するために、「連載中のマンガ作品にテーマソングを書き下ろす」という前代未聞の形で、それぞれが作り出せる最上級のクリエイティブを生み出すべく、羽海野チカとBUMP OF CHICKENは現在進行形で制作に取り組んでいるという。

また、発売形態もこれまでにない形式を採用した。白泉社が刊行する「3月のライオン」10巻特装版に、BUMP OF CHICKEN がこの企画のために書き下ろした新曲「ファイター」のCDが付属。トイズファクトリーが配信限定シングルとして発売するBUMP OF CHICKENの「ファイター」に、羽海野チカがこの企画のために描き下ろした「3月のライオン」スピンオフが電子書籍で読めるシリアルコードが付属し、11月28日（金）に同時発売となる。果たしてどのようなストーリーが、そして楽曲が紡がれるのか。リリースを楽しみに待とう。
