サザンオールスターズ、9年ぶりの年越しライブがついにスタート

12月27日、サザンオールスターズの9年ぶりとなる年越しライブが横浜アリーナにてついにスタートした。

昨年、日本中が待ち望んだサザンオールスターズの復活。今年も「進撃のサザン」と銘打ち、シングル「東京VICTORY」を9月に発売。オリコンチャート堂々1位の大ヒットを記録し、まさに快進撃を続けている。そんなサザンが、今年はなんと恒例の年越しライブを9年ぶりに開催する。今でこそ、全国各地で様々なアーティストが年越しカウントダウンライブを行っているが、そもそも年越しライブといえばサザンが元祖だ。

この日、最新曲「東京VICTORY」をバックに、メンバーがステージ上に現れると、横浜アリーナに詰めかけた約15,000人のファンは狂喜乱舞し、会場は割れんばかりの歓声に包まれた。 演奏曲は、アンコールも含めると34曲にも及んだ。最新シングルから「東京VICTORY」、「天国オン・ザ・ビーチ」、昨年のサザン復活の狼煙を上げた「ピースとハイライト」などサザンの今を感じることができる楽曲はもちろんのこと、70年代80年代に発表された楽曲も数多く披露するなど、まさに新旧織り交ぜた名曲・ヒット曲のオンパレードとなった。

これまでも社会のリアルな動きに敏感に反応してきているサザンだが、昨年の「ピースとハイライト」、今年の「東京VICTORY」と、今までにも増してそういった要素が強まってきており、今回のライブでもそのことを強く感じとることができた。「ピースとハイライト」では、世界情勢をリアルに切り取った映像が、「東京VICTORY」の、“時が止まったままのあの日のMY HOMETOWN"というくだりでは、福島や沖縄といった昨今さまざまな問題を抱えている場所の映像が、また「爆笑アイランド」では、危険ドラッグ・消費税増税・アベノミクス・STAP細胞・ゴーストライター・セクハラやじ・号泣会見・・・といった、今年の世相を象徴する言葉が次々に大画面と映し出されるなど、極上のエンタメの中に、随所で社会問題に対する鋭い視点が織り交ぜられた。そんなサザンオールスターズにしかできない唯一無二の世界観が大いに観客の共感を呼び、会場はまさに一体となった。文字通り「年越しライブ」の名にふさわしい、2014年の世の中を総括するかのようなライブだったといえる。

今回のライブは久々のサザンの年越しライブということで、少しでも多くのお客さんに楽しんでもらうために、舞台後方のバックステージにも観客席が用意された。桑田はじめメンバーは、ステージを後ろからしか見ることができないバックステージの観客に対して、何度も手をふったり声を掛けたりするなどの持ち前のサービス精神を発揮。「LOVE AFFAIR～秘密のデート～」では、桑田がバックステージ席のお客さんをステージ上に呼び込み、肩を組んで歌うという粋な演出に会場は大いに盛り上がった。

12月31日（水）公演はWOWOWでの生放送、全国の映画館でライブビューイングも実施されるので、チェックしよう。
