音×AiR、新体制での東京ワンマンが大盛況

大阪を拠点に活躍する若手ロックバンド、音×AiRが12月18日に渋谷TSUTAYA O-nestにてライブ『NOW ON AiR 快進撃ワンマン 渋谷O-nest編～音×AiRサンタの先取りクリスマスパーティ！～』を開催した。都内でのワンマンは今年8月にギターの大地が脱退して以来。新体制の音×AiRは一体何を見せてくれるのか？　そんな期待を胸に会場へ入った。

SEに導かれて、スーツ姿の3人とサポートギタリストの將が続々と登場。一曲目は男臭さ全開の「なんちゃってヒーロー」だ。サビで天高く拳を突き上げる楓の姿に、圧倒されそうな気迫がみなぎる。「ダントツ☆YOU」「Love Me Do」とお馴染みの人気曲を続けて、会場のボルテージは早くも最高潮。開始3曲目にして湯気が立ち込めるほど汗だくになったメンバーの姿に心を打たれる。

曲間のMCでは楓が先生、MASAYAと竜之介がヤンキーの生徒に扮した完成度の高い学園コントや、ラジオDJの楓がリスナーからの投稿を読み上げるコントを披露して、フロアの笑いを誘う一幕もあった。

そして、3人体制になってから生まれたという、武骨なギターロックを盛り込んだ「King Of しりとり」や80年代を彷彿とさせるファンキーなリフが特徴の「むちゃぶりレシーバー」は、秀逸なメロディラインに音×AiRらしいギャグセンスの高い歌詞をのせた新しいタイプの楽曲。メッセージ性の高い骨太なロックから、遊び心溢れる歌詞が特徴のダンスナンバーまで、振り幅の広さが今の音×AiRの最大の魅力だろう。

楓もMCで「今年はギターの大地が脱退して、曲の作り方が大きく変わった。今はアイデアの泉が枯れることがない」と話し、頼もしさを感じさせるとともに、バンドが新章へと向かっていることを伝える。

4つ打ちのダンスナンバー「抱きしめたいハグトゥナイ」や正統派ロックが魅力の「poppoko」では、観客もメンバーと一緒にピョンピョンと跳ねたり大声で笑ったり。毎回ライブに参戦している前方のファンはもちろん、初めて音×AiRを観に来た後方の観客まで引き込んでしまうステージさばきのうまさは、弱冠21歳にしてさすがとしか言いようがない。

後半では、「僕らが定期的に出演させていただいているJOL原宿にスケッチブックを置かせていただいて、みんなの夢とかやりたいことを書いてもらい、その言葉を使って歌詞を作りました。目標に向かっている人の背中を押せる曲になればいい」と前置きして「Catch Your Dream」を演奏。楓の繊細さと力強さを兼ね備えた声だからこそ響く＜描いた夢、目掛けて走ろう＞の歌詞に引っ張られるかのように、MASAYAと竜之介のリズム隊もこの日、一番のパフォーマンスを見せた。

最後は楓が「続けていくためには、バンドが前に進まなきゃあかんなって考えてるんです。その一歩目が今日のワンマンやと思ってます。これからスピード上げて突っ走って行きたいと思います」と音楽に対する真摯な気持ちを語り、新曲「タイムマシン」を披露。＜本当はもう僕も、わかってるんだ。伝えるには遅かったこの想い＞という一節から始まる、男女のすれ違いを歌ったラブソングは、楓の大地への気持ちに重なって聞こえてしまい、思わず涙が溢れそうになった。会場全体が息を飲んで聴き入ってしまうほどの名曲を歌い上げて、ライブ本編が終了。

アンコールではサンタクロースの格好に着替えた楓が星野源の「恋」に合わせて話題の「恋ダンス」を踊り、フロアは再び笑いに包まれる。しんみりムードでは終わらせないサービス精神の高さは関西バンドの性か。続いて同じくサンタコスチュームの竜之介と將、トナカイ姿のMASAYAも登場し、タオル回し入りの「波乗りトコナッツ」とラブ＆ピースを象徴する「愛を唄おう」を演奏。約2時間、全18曲に及ぶ3度目の東京ワンマンは幕を閉じた。

終演後には物販コーナーにメンバー自らが立ち、観客ひとりひとりに「今日は来てくれて、ほんまにありがとう」と握手をしたり、要望に応じて写真撮影をする姿も。ここまで手厚い対応をしてくれるバンドなら、何度もライブに足を運びたくなるファンの気持ちもよく分かる。

2017年2月8日には初の全国流通盤『ハートフルレボリューション』をリリース！　そしてリリース記念ワンマンライブを3月12日に渋谷、3月17日には大阪で開催する。今後の「快進撃」からますます目が離せない。
