【THE KIDDIE】“伝える”っていう行為を全員でやった

　ゲーム『キミカレ ～新学期～』の主題歌「I sing for you」と挿入歌「すき」を配するニューシングルについて、メンバー全員に話を訊いた。

──今作は表題曲「I sing for you」もカップリングの「すき」もゲーム『キミカレ ～新学期～』のタイアップ曲なのですが、どちらもゲームの内容に沿っての書き下ろしになるのですか？

揺紗 そうです。ゲーム会社さんから“青空”とか“学校”、“青春”、“教室”…などゲームの世界観からこぼれ落ちたようなキーワードをいくつかいただいて、みんなで作曲していきました。で、主題歌として佑聖くんの作った曲が選ばれたという。

佑聖 とにかくフレッシュさと、ゲームが恋愛っぽい感じなのでちょっとキュンとするような切なさも織り交ぜました。

──爽快感があって弾むような楽曲なのですが、バンドアレンジする時やレコーディングで意識したことは？

ユウダイ ノリ的にもストレートに…“伝える”っていう行為を全員でやった感じですね。ドラムはビート的にはシンプルに。なので、プロデューサーの恩田快人さんと相談しながら、そこでどう派手に見せるかということで、要所要所でティンパニーとかの音を入れたりして。

そらお 疾走感があるものは得意だったんで、ベースは自然にやりました。でも、音作りにこだわって、さわやかさとかは音色で表現しようと心がけました。そこが今までと違うところですね。

佑聖 ギターはサビだけ恩田さんの“カッティングっぽくしたらどうかな”っていう提案で変えたんですけど、あとはデモの…

淳 まんまっていうか、佑聖くんがイメージしていたのは“高校生がコピーしたくなる”だったので、今までのものよりもシンプルなギターアレンジになっていると思いますね。エッジが立っていて疾走感のあるギターっていうか。そういうのって、ギターを始めたばかりの頃って耳に付くんで。

揺紗 今回は真っ直ぐな気持ちというのと、高校生の曲っていうか、フレッシュなイメージがあったので、ロックっぽいフェイクとかは一切やめて真っ直ぐに歌いました。

──そして、この曲の歌詞は全員で手掛けたという。

揺紗 先にキーワードがあったから、俺が書いても面白くないかなって思ったんですよ。最初からゲームの絵や内容が分かっているわけだし、そのイメージを全員で膨らませていくのが一番良いんじゃないかなと思ったんで、それぞれがイメージする単語を出して、並べていった感じですね。そういうのも初めてですね。

──「すき」は淳くんの作詞作曲ですが、どんな曲を作ろうと？

淳 十代の時っていろんなものがキラキラとしているというか、新鮮に感じられるので、そういうのをアルペジオで表現して、そこに歌詞を乗せていく上で…例えば、言い回しだったり、歌うことを前提とした言葉使いだったり、間奏を入れる場所の意味とかを揺紗くんに相談しつつ作っていきました。そういうのって歌詞を書いて歌う人じゃないと分からない視点だと思うので。あと、アレンジでもそらおくんの考えてきたベースラインを俺が考えたものとすり合わせたりしていきましたね。

揺紗 やわらかい感じがあって、淳くんの恋愛観が分かる…それぐらい淳エキスが出ている曲ですね（笑）。

──今回のシングルはゲーム『キミカレ ～新学期～』ありきのものだったわけですが、こういう作品作りはどうでしたか？

揺紗 得意分野のものだったし、楽しかったですね。

ユウダイ あと、見た目も含めてコラボしたというか、『キミカレ ～新学期～』の制服をベースにTHE KIDDIEなりの衣装をそれぞれがリクエストして作ってもらったので、そういう意味でも楽しんでやれた企画でしたね。
