THE YELLOW MONKEY、新録ベストに美輪明宏がナレーション参加！

THE YELLOW MONKEYが5月21日にリリースするデビュー25周年全曲新録ベストアルバム『THE YELLOW MONKEY IS HERE. NEW BEST』のMVにて、かねてから吉井和哉（Vo）がリスペクトしている美輪明宏とのコラボ―レーションが実現した。

新録ベストアルバムのキャラクターである【TYM（タイム）】のナレーションを美輪明宏が担当。誰が聞いても、すぐ美輪明宏とわかる唯一無二の声が、楽曲にあわせて変幻自在に変化。「JAM」「太陽が燃えている」「パール」「SPARK」「楽園」「バラ色の日々」6曲を繋いでのトータルな世界観を構築している。

【TYM】は、THE YELLOW MONKEYが作りだしたものの集積であり、楽曲ごとに変化し、時には楽曲から抜け出し、街の中やひとびとの心の中にも現れる。そのキャラクター造形をしていく中で、声は美輪さんしかない！というスタッフ全員一致での決定だった。

打診を受け、美輪明宏も快諾。美輪明宏と吉井和哉は1995年の雑誌での対談で初めて会った仲。その後親交を深め、2001年の活動休止前の東京ドーム公演にも足を運んでいる。

今回のナレーション録りには吉井和哉も立ち会い、バンド解散後の2006年のフジテレビ「僕らの音楽」の対談以来、二人は11年ぶりの再会を果たした。久しぶりの再会に美輪明宏は『吉井君にあえて楽しかった。でもキャラクターは気味悪かった（笑）』とコメントしている。

改めて美輪さんの声の凄み、艶、説得力に圧倒されました。再集結しても、またこのような形で尊敬する美輪明宏さんとコラボレーションしていただき、本当に感無量です。

このTYM（タイム）というキャラクターはイエローモンキーとファンとの誇るべき楽曲達の『魂』を形にしたような存在です。その声を美輪さんにやっていただき、僕らもファンもこの上ない喜びです。
