【knotlamp】バンドのポテンシャルが今一番上がってきてる

　まっすぐに未来に向かっていくポジティブなメッセージが込められた2ndシングル「Across my world」。楽曲だけでなく、バンド内で感じる確かな手応えについてKEIT（Vo&Gu）とAKIHIKO（Dr&Cho）が語ってくれた。

──「Across my world」は、NHK総合テレビアニメ『銀河へキックオフ!!』のオープニングテーマですが、そこは意識されました？

KEIT 3rdミニアルバム『Bridges We’ve Dreamed』で新しいことをやりますよって入口を作ったので、秋に出るアルバムはいろいろな要素が増えた間口の広いアルバムになると思うんですが、そのためにも今回のシングルでは一旦自分たちがここまでやってきたことの王道…速さで持っていくところと聴かせる部分を混ぜてっていうのを明確に出していこうと。Bメロで《（Try and be）》とかのコーラスを入れて、ライヴで一緒になって歌える感じにしたり。

──歌詞も前へ向かっていこうとする姿がストレートに表現されていて。

KEIT 前向きな気持ちとか、誰もが持ってる不安や不満を今までも歌ってはきたんですけど、年月が経つとそういう漠然としていたもののかたちが見えてきたり、しかもそれをピックアップして相手に伝えるっていう力もどんどん携わってくるから、そういう意味ではよりストレートな表現につながっているのかもしれませんね。

AKIHIKO でも、「Across my world」で気に入ってくれた人が「Unbeaten path」「Back to ZERO」「時の行方 ―meets classic―」を聴くと、別の印象になるんだろうなって思います。

──確かに4曲ともにアプローチの方法が違いますものね。これまでのknotlampを知っている人にとっても、1stフルアルバム『Sing against the stream』に入っていた疾走感ある「時の行方」がクラシックになるとは！という驚きが大きいかと。

KEIT すごく大事な曲だし、どっかでもう1回世に出したいなっていうのはあったんで。まだまだ下手くそなんですけど、こういうこともできるんだぞってのを見せられたかなと。王道を見せつつ、やっぱり新しい要素もそれぞれにあったりするので。表題曲だけじゃなく他の3曲も聴いてもらって、このバンドが持ってる良さを知ってもらいたいですね。今後も注目していきたいって思える存在になりたい。

──では、毎回“鬼門”となるレコーディングはいかがでした？

KEIT あぁ～変わらず大変でしたね、トラウマです（笑）。訳分かんないところまでこだわり抜くんで、時間かかるんですよ。

AKIHIKO ドラムは事前にアレンジを詰めることができたので、自分の中で勢いあるテイクとかっちりしたテイクとか選ぶ幅を増やすことができて。前はぎりぎりまで悩んで…シンバルひとつ叩くのもどうしようかって悩みながらずっと録っていたんですけど、それが体の中に入ってから録れたので、煮詰まることは少なかったですね。全体的に気持ちがそのまま出せたテイクになっていると思います。

──レーベルを移籍したことで、制作への影響はありました？

KEIT スタッフの人たちがいいっすね。MAHIRO（Gu&Cho）が加入したことでも、バンドの中に新鮮な空気が入ってきたし。アルバムの時には彼の個性がもっと発揮されるんだろうなって思っていて。あとは、良い曲を作って、良いライヴをやれば、うまくいくんじゃねぇの？って手応えがあります。今一番バンドのポテンシャルが上がってきてる時期だと思いますよ。楽曲作る上で辛い作業はもちろんありますけど、テンション高く保って、笑って楽しくやれる場所であれば、どんな辛い作業があったっていいものはできると思うから、それを心がけて…毎回思うんですけど、秋に出るフルアルバムへつなげていきたいですね。
