ねこね、こねこね。がタワレコ限定シングル「ことばの海」MVを解禁

ねこね、こねこね。が7月5日にリリースするタワーレコード限定 2コインシングルのタイトル曲「ことばの海」のMVを公開した。

今作はねこね、こねこね。の「四半世紀カルテット」「けっこう毛だらけ猫灰だらけ」のMVを手がけてきたKASICOとサイダーガール、KEYTALKなどのアートワークを手がける勝見拓矢の2人の人気クリエイターがタッグを組んで制作された。むらまつ えりか（Vo/Gt）の新しい魅力を引き出すと共に、彼女の紡ぎだす、儚くも力強いことばの世界を水中撮影で深く美しく彩り、サビの壮大なメロディは力強い演奏シーンに落とし込んだシンプルながらも深く心に残る映像作品が完成した。またカップリングにはライブで人気を博すファン待望の、ねこね流ダンスナンバー「かいじゅうたちのいるところ」を収録。レコーディング・ミックスエンジニアには、クリープハイプ、KANA-BOONなどを手がける釆原史明を迎えた意欲作だ。MV公開に合わせて、音楽ライター・森朋之からのコメントもオフィシャルHPで公開となったので、こちらも是非チェックしてほしい。

“ねこね、こねこね。"の音楽に初めて触れたとき、ギターロックバンドとはアートフォームである、という当たり前のことを久々に思い出した。Sonic　Youth、The　Pastels、my　bloody　valentine、blur、RIDE、くるり、ナンバーガール。多感な時期に夢中になったバンドはすべて、アートとしての魅力を備えていた。決して批判しているわけではないが、フェスで盛り上がることを重視するあまり、否応なく画一化が進んでいく今のバンドシーンにちょっと飽きてきた筆者にとって、イマジネーション豊かな歌の世界とポップ／エクスペリメントを共存させたバンドサウンドを軸にした“ねこね、こねこね。"は“アートとしてのギターロック"の魅力を呼び起こしてくれる存在だったのだ。

そして、ニューシングル「ことばの海」でこのバンドは新しい表現へと踏み出してみせた。

タイトル曲「ことばの海」は、“ゆるふわポップ"という従来のイメージを気持ち良く裏切ってくれるロックナンバーに仕上がっている。美しいノイズギターと素朴な物語性を感じさせるメロディライン、そして、“ことばの海を泳ぐ　瞼の裏に浮かぶ情景"に象徴される、リスナーの想像力を刺激する歌詞。90年代シューゲイザーの進化型と呼びたくなるようなこの曲は、ねこね、こねこね。の新しい軸になりそうだ。さらに2曲目には、以前からライブでも披露され、ねこね流ダンストラックとして親しまれている「かいじゅうたちのいるところ」を収録。ファンタジックな世界観を描き出す歌、しなやかなファンクネスを感じさせるアンサンブルがひとつになったこの曲からは、このバンドの幅広い音楽性を感じてもらえるはずだ。
「本当のことなんかは見えないさ/甘んずることなく進め」（ことばの海）という意志のもと、次のフェーズへと歩みを進めた“ねこね、こねこね。"。奥深いポップネスをたたえたこのバンドの魅力を、ひとりでもたくさんの音楽ファンに味わってほしいと思う。
