THE YELLOW MONKEY、伝説の復活劇ツアーの裏側を描く映画『オトトキ』公開

THE YELLOW MONKEYの2016年のツアーに密着したドキュメンタリーフィルム『オトトキ』が、11月11日より全国公開公開される。

1992年のデビュー以来、数々のヒット曲を生み出し、シングル・アルバムセールス合わせて1,000万枚以上のセールスを記録、2001年に活動を休止した日本を代表するロックバンド、 THE YELLOW MONKEY。その彼らの活動休止から15年。2016年に再集結し、全国42公演、36万人動員のツアーで見事な復活を遂げる。

この復活劇の1年間を追いかけたのは、映画監督松永大司。時には超至近距離でカメラを回し、時には“証言”を求めて海外にも渡る。そして、ついに彼らに”ある場所”でのライヴを仕掛ける。まるで、この1年間だけでなく、この先のTHE YELLOW MONKEYの行先をも見い出そうとしているかのように。

ロックバンドを続けるとはどういうことなのか？　ぜひ劇場で確かめほしい。

僕たちが再びオレンジ色の中央線のラインに繋がったドキュメンタリーです。怒涛のような1年を松永監督の目線で追いかけます。ファンの方々にとっては、イエローモンキーの映画であると同時に皆さんの映画でもあると思います。

人にとっての一年は長いようで短い。短いようで長い。本当にいろんな物が詰まってます。メンバー、家族、待っていてくれた人達、支えてきてくれた人達、支えてくれている人達、未来を一緒に作っていくだろう人達への想いが溢れてメカラアセガ…ありがとう☆

バンド史・自分史に燦然と輝く“再集結YEAR”だった2016年の春から2017年の春までの我がTHE YELLOW MONKEYを、松永監督が見事に結び紡ぎ繋ぎあげてくださった。ココに嘘・偽りは何一つ無く、ただただピュアでドラマティックな真実が映し出されている。『本人のオマエが感極まってどうすんだよ!?』って言われちゃうほどに心が揺さぶられる作品になりましたね。

恥ずかしいほどの素をさらけ出したメンバーを通して監督が感じ取ったものがエンドロールで見えてくると思います。手前味噌ながら、色々と飾り立てた言葉よりも音楽はより多くのモノを物語る事を実感した作品です。
