GLAY、クリスマス・イブの函館で大型アリーナツアーが終幕

GLAYが9月より行なっていた24万人を動員する大型アリーナツアー『GLAY ARENA TOUR 2017 “SUMMERDELICS"』の追加公演が、クリスマス・イブである12月24日（日）に地元・函館で行なわれた。

雪に包まれた函館アリーナ公演は、2days共に満員の大盛況。クリスマス・イブにGLAYのライブを楽しみに来た約4000人のファンが会場を埋め尽くすと、怪しくも激しいSEと共にメンバーが次々と登場した。ライブ1曲目は最新アルバム「SUMMERDELICS」収録のロックナンバー「聖者のいない町」からスタート。スモークに包まれたステージで序盤は静かにTERUが歌い上げる。しかしロックナンバーともあり突如楽曲は激しくヒートアップ。合わせてステージからは炎が立ち上げ、会場のボルーテジも炎の如く急上昇した。そこからの前半戦はギターHISASHIプロデュースによる演出が炸裂。自身が作詞作曲した「デストピア」、「超音速デスティニー」ではダークな世界観の演出で会場を大いに盛り上げた。

ライブ中盤ではTERUが『言葉の一つ一つが函館を連想させる。厳しい冬を越えて来たからこそ出来た曲です』と語ると、大ヒット曲「Winter,again」を披露。アリーナツアー『GLAY ARENA TOUR 2017 “SUMMERDELICS"』では披露して来なかった曲とだけあり、イントロが流れると会場からは大きな歓声が沸いた。冬の函館で聞く「Winter,again」は情景と合わさり格別である。

そして続けて先日リリースした55thシングル「WINTERDELICS.EP〜あなたといきてゆく〜」のリードトラック「あなたといきてゆく」を披露。この曲は先日、日本テレビ系『スッキリ』放送3000回記念企画で結婚式にサプライズ登場した際に披露し『新たなGLAYの名ラブバラード誕生！』と話題になっている。

そして『ライブに来られなかったファンのために』とメンバー発案で、この曲のライブの模様をリアルタイムでLINE LIVEにて配信が行なわれた。LINE LIVEを視聴しているファンからは『自分の結婚式で絶対流したい。』『両親に向けた結婚祝いのお返しに、このCDをプレゼントする！』など、コメントも多く寄せられ、大いに盛り上がった。そして驚いた事に、本来「あなたといきてゆく」1曲のみの配信予定であったがLINE LIVEは終了せず、そのままGLAYのクリスマスソング「Time for Christmas」も生配信を開始。メンバーからの嬉しいサプライズともあり、LINE LIVEを見ていたファンによるSNSなどでの反応が多く、放送時間10分程にもかかわらずその間15万人近い視聴者数を誇り、多くの人にGLAYから最高のクリスマス・プレゼントが贈られた。

LINE LIVEの生配信が終了してからも、北海道新幹線のテーマソングとなった「Supernova Express 2017」などを披露し、会場を大いに盛り上げ、本編最後はTERUが新しい夢を見つけて誕生した楽曲「the other end of the globe」を披露して終えた。会場からは大きなGLAYを呼ぶ声が鳴り止まず、そのままアンコールがスタート。「SHUTTER SPEEDSのテーマ 」などアッパーナンバーを次々に投下していき、会場はすぐさま熱気に包まれていった。

最後はTERUが『今ままで続けて来て本当に良かった！　皆に出会えて良かった！』と感謝の言葉を叫び、20周年の節目に作られた、決意表明とも言える楽曲「MUSIC LIFE」を披露。函館の街全体が長期間にわたって行われたアリーナ・ツアーの追加公演をお祝いしているかの様に、暖かい空気に包まれてゆき、まさに函館はGLAYのホームなのだと言えるライブ・フィナーレとなり、長きに渡るツアーの幕が下ろされた。
