LOVEBITES、熱狂のライヴ映像からなる「The Crusade」MVを公開＆最新作の詳細を解禁

2017年のデビュー以来、様々な音楽誌で新人賞を獲得するなどメタル・シーンの話題を独占したLOVEBITESが、6月6日にリリースするミニアルバム『バトル・アゲンスト・ダムネイション』から、新曲「ザ・クルセイド」のMVを公開した。

このMVは、去る2月23日に東京・渋谷duo MUSIC EXCHANGEで彼女たちが行なった単独公演『RE-AWAKENING FROM ABYSS LIVE 2018』のライヴ映像をメインに構成。これまですべての単独公演のチケットをソールドアウトにしてきたLOVEBITESだが、当然この日も満員。その熱気が閉じ込められている。また、ライヴ映像以外にリハーサルやレコーディング風景もところどころに挿入されており、これまでの作り込まれたMVとは異なる趣きの、メタルバンドとしての生々しさを感じさせるビデオに仕上がった。

また、『BATTLE AGAINST DAMNATION』のジャケット写真をはじめトラックリストなど詳細も公開となった。「ザ・クルセイド」は、2017年11月にイギリスでのイベント出演やロンドン公演を経験した彼女たちが、ブリティッシュ・ヘヴィ・メタルへのリスペクトを込めたリードトラック。「ブレイク・ザ・ウォール」はベーシストmihoとギタリスト兼キーボーディストmiyakoの初共作曲で、スラッシュ・メタル然としたリフで押しまくりながらも、中間部では雰囲気がガラッと変わる。さらに、曲タイトルにも共通点が感じられる「アバヴ・ザ・ブラック・シー」と「アンダー・ザ・レッド・スカイ」は、どちらも20世紀初頭に活躍したロシア帝国出身の作曲家セルゲイ・ラフマニノフからの影響をメタルに盛り込んだ、いわば対になる楽曲で、彼女たちの新たな魅力が詰まっている。

ジャケットのイラストは、前作『アウェイクニング・フロム・アビス』に引き続き、ダビド・ロペス・ゴメスとカルロス・ヴィセンテ・レオンのスペイン人コンビが手掛けた。アルバムタイトルにあるとおり、天のさだめ（天罰）に抗う存在として、収録曲「アバヴ・ザ・ブラック・シー」「アンダー・ザ・レッド・スカイ」を絵にした黒い海と赤い空の中で、LOVEBITESの化身ともいえる狼が咆哮している。

本作リリース直後となる6月28日（木）の東京・渋谷TSUTAYA O-EAST公演のチケットは、ソールドアウト間近。その後7月には、日本のヘヴィ・メタル界の重鎮アンセムによる『HEADSTRONG FES.18』に出演し、神奈川・大阪・名古屋をサーキットし、8月にはドイツ『ヴァッケン・オープン・エア』と、英国『ブラッドストック・オープン・エア』といった世界最大級のメタル・フェスティバルに出演する。そして現在、ヨーロッパ最大のメタル専門誌「METAL HAMMER」主催のアワード『Golden Gods』にて、ベスト・ニュー・バンド部門にノミネート中！　国内外で、彼女たちの活躍は留まるところを知らない。
