デビュー30周年を迎えたボーカリスト今井優子が、7月25日にアニバーサリー・アルバム『It’s My Time To Shine』を発売。オリジナルアルバムとしては、07年1月発表『I WISH』以来、11年半ぶりの新録作となる。表題曲『It’s My Time To Shine』は“今こそ輝く女性像”をテーマに、詞曲ともに今井優子が書き下ろした。アレンジャー安部潤氏のラテンなフ ュージョンアレンジが、気分が上がる上質なシティポップとして昇華。公開されているミュージックビデオは、ナチュラルな美しさの今井と躍動感ある映像がマッチングされた内容となっている。アルバムには、音楽の師匠でもある角松敏生の再プロデュース曲「Mistress」も収録。往年のファンを喜ばせている。10月開催の30周年記念ライブは、チケットが1日でソールドアウトされ、期待値の高さを証明した。

高校卒業後、作曲家平尾昌晃に見出され、ヴォーカリストの道を歩み始める。 1987年キングレコードから「哀しみのペイヴメント」でデビュー。ドラマ主題歌「Lovin' You」のヒットや角松敏生プロデュ ースによる『Do away』などの代表作がある。近年には、“地域猫”の愛護と保護の取り組みから、ペットロスをテーマに「ボクが傍にいるから…」を発表。動物愛護活動から生まれた癒しの楽曲として、各紙新聞に取り上げられる。今井楽曲の16ビート＆テンションコードをYUKO-SOUNDと名付け、洗練されたAORとして、ファン層を確立させている。
