yoshimi（d-girls）の歌い手としての人生を変えた名バラード曲。それが、I WiSH、naoの書いた「ありがとう」

d-tranceのメンバーとしてアイドル活動を始めたのが、今から12年前のこと。現在は、d-girlsのメンバーとして。同時に、yoshimiとしてソロ活動も行っている。先日もyoshimiは、活動12周年を祝うワンマンコンサートを開催したばかりだ。トランスサウンドを軸に据えた躍動的かつポップなダンスチューンを軸に据えたd-girlsとは異なり、yoshimiのソロ活動は生音を軸に据えたバラードを歌うことを表現の中心に据えている。
ソロ活動を始めたばかりの頃は、d-girlsと同じようにデジタルな音楽スタイルも取り入れていたが、とある曲を歌ったことをきっかけに、彼女は、d-girlsとyoshimiとしての表現のベクトルを分ける形を選んだ。それが、I WiSHのnaoが楽曲提供をしたバラードナンバー「ありがとう」との出会いだった。

2015年1月に2回目のソロワンマン公演を行ったとき、yoshimiはI WiSHのnaoをゲストで招聘。彼のピアノ演奏に乗せて歌ったのが、この日のためにnaoが作りあげた「ありがとう」だった。当時は、ピアノと歌声のみのシンプルな形で披露。そのときに、自分の歌声に磨きをかけ、一人の歌い手として長く歌い続けたい決意を抱いたことから、yoshimiとしての活動に関してはバラードを歌うことを心がけるようになった。
今も、d-girlsと並行し定期的にソロとしてもライブ活動を行えば、10周年を祝った3年前より、毎年周年の時期にyoshimiとしてのワンマン公演も重ね続けている。ライブを行うたびに大切に歌い続けてきた「ありがとう」は、以前から音源化の声を受け続けてきた。その声の高まりが実を結び、このたび4年越しに音源化となり、12月4日にCDとして発売になった。

長く歌い続けてゆく中、yoshimi自身何度も心が挫けそうになれば、不安に苛まれ夢を追い求めることをあきらめかけた経験だって何度も重ねてきた。そのたびに自分に「歌う居場所を与えてくれた」のは、yoshimi自身の夢を一緒に叶えようと応援し続けてきたファンたちや、yoshimiを支えてきたスタッフたちの存在だった。yoshimiのことを大切に想い続ける人たちへの「ありがとう」の感謝の気持ちを、彼女はI WiSHのnaoが作ってくれた温かなバラードナンバーに乗せ、届けてきた。yoshimiがつねにライブで歌い続けているのも、今でもその気持ちを感じているからだ。彼女は、何時だって目の前にいる仲間たちへ感謝の気持ちを伝えたくて歌っている。面と向かって言えない想いに歌に変えてゆくところも、照れ屋なyoshimiらしさ。
C/Wには、同じ夢を見て歩みながらも、今は別々の。でも、自分らしい道を歩み続ける親友に向けての想いを歌にした「ベストフレンド」を収録。2曲とも「相手を思いやる優しさ」を記した歌たちなのも、yoshimiらしい。まさに、リアルなyoshimi自身が映し出された作品として完成している。

最後に、今後の展開も記そうか。yoshimiは、今回の「ありがとう」と題したシングルを皮切りに、2020年の3月と6月にも新しいシングルを発売する。さらに、2020年9月にはアルバムのリリースも予定している。2020年もd-girlsが中心とはいえ、yoshimiとしての活動も積極的に行うように、これから出会う機会はどんどん増えそうだ。ぜひyoshimiに触れ、彼女の温かい感謝の想いを、「ありがとう」の歌を介して受け止めていただけたらなと思っている。
