YuI -唯-、1stシングル「Tetris」のMVを先行公開。モチーフは、「笑ゥせぇるすまん」の喪黒福造風??!!

Vagu*Projectと並行し、ソロ活動にも本格的に取り組みだしたYuI -唯-。コロナ禍の影響により、当初より予定は少し遅れてしまったが、ついに大安の日となる8月29日(土)に1stシングル「Tetris」の配信/CD販売が決定した。
収録した「Tetris」「Pierce」「From」とも、Vagu*Projectのセルフカバー曲。ただし、バンドスタイルとは異なり、どれも情熱的なピアノロックに装いを変えているところが嬉しい聞きどころだ。その理由を、YuI -唯-は以下のように答えてくれた。

「そもそもソロ活動を始めた理由が、オラオラ系のインダストリアルメタルバンド」というスタイルを掲げ活動をしているVagu*Projectでは表現できない面を形にしたい欲求があったことから。何時だって自分の中には、一つの楽曲でも多様なアレンジが浮かんでいる。それを形作ろうと、今回、YuI -唯-というソロ名義のもとピアノロックという形で示しました」

先に伝えておくと、今後はYuI -唯-としてオリジナル楽曲を中心に表現してゆく。その前段階として、YuI -唯-は頭の中に生まれていたVagu*Project曲たちの別の表情を具体化するため、今回セルフカバーという形を取っている。

このたび、1stシングル「Tetris」の先行歌として「Tetris」のMVが公開になった。彼がなぜこの曲を選び、今回のヴィジュアル姿を示したのか。そこには、こんな理由があった。

「 1stシングルにVagu*Projectの楽曲のセルフカバーを収録した理由は、「同じメロディーラインを持った楽曲でも、伴奏や歌い方を変えるだけで、こんなにも楽曲の表情が変わるんだよ」という姿を提示し、ソロとして表現してゆく意味や理由を示したかったからです。映画でも一緒じゃないですか。同じ物語でも、監督の表現の手腕次第で内容が異なれば、作品のクオリティにも差が出てゆく。それはシリーズ映画も、そう。監督が変わることで、同じシリーズ作品の中でも善し悪しが如実に現れる。つまり、脚本は同じでも、角度を変えると違った良さを出せることを示したいなと思ったからなんです。Vagu*Projectファンたちには、その違いをまずは楽しんで欲しかった。新たにYuI -唯-を知った方々には、ソロとして提唱するピアノロックという形をわかりやすく提示したかったことから、今回の形を取っています。
「Tetris」が生まれるモチーフになったのが、藤子不二雄Ⓐが描いた「笑ゥせぇるすまん」。昔、テトリスというゲームが流行りました。これは、落ちてくるブロックを回転させ、下のブロックと上手く重ね合わせることでブロックを次々と消してゆく内容。いわゆる「隙間を埋めて消してゆく」ゲームなわけですけど。「笑ゥせぇるすまん」のキャッチフレーズも、「あなたの心の隙間をお埋めします」なんですね。
この漫画、心の隙間をお埋めしますと言ってるように、その人の欲望の手助けをすることで一時的にその人の心を満たしますけど。最終的にはみんな不幸になってゆく。それを遠目で見ながら高笑いする喪黒福造の姿こそ、自分が表現したかったシニカルな視線と共通していたことから、アーティスト写真の一つとして示せば、それを形にした「Tetris」という楽曲を、装いを変えてYuI -唯-としても表現したわけなんです。
本作の編曲面には、友人の”ますく”というミュージシャンがピアノの演奏はもちろん、楽曲アレンジにも積極的に携わってくれました。彼のこだわりをぜひ感じて欲しいのと、その音楽性を視覚面にも投影しようと、ボクは「Tetris」のMVの中でジャズダンスも披露。こちらは、僕のジャズダンスの師匠の恩田和典さんに振り付けをお願いしました。僕のヴィジュアル面も、自分なりに喪黒福造を具象化しています」
　
「Tetris」のMVの公開に合わせ、自身の通販サイトを通し、1stシングル「Tetris」と1stブックレットの予約も開始した。ブックレットにも、YuI -唯-として表現したいアートを写し出している。
1stシングル「Tetris」のリリースに合わせ、9月以降大きな展開も計画していれば、10月には2ndシングルの発売も予定している。詳細は間もなく発表になるように、次の報せも楽しみに待っていて欲しい。
