上間江望 ライブレポート

新規オープンして間もない原宿RUIDOを舞台に、同店舗の「REBIRTH」シリーズ企画の一つとして、７月4日(月)に「竹下通り恋ノ歌劇場」と題した女性アーティストたちを集めたイベントが催された。出演したのは、安月名莉子／上間江望／つじりお／藤嶋美伶／younA。ここでは、上間江望のライブの模様をお伝えしたい。


　上間江望のライブの冒頭を飾ったのが、スキマスイッチのカバー曲『全力少年』。自身のアルバムでも音源化しており、本人もライブで好んで歌っている楽曲だ。アコースティックギターを軽やかに鳴らし、上間江望は弾むメロディーへ誘われるように、自身も気持ちを弾ませ、想いを真っ直ぐ届けるように歌っていた。原曲の持つエネルギッシュな部分を抑え、少し爽やかな色に塗り替えて届けるスタイルは、上間江望らしい色の描き方。彼女は爽やかで温かな歌声を魅力に、フロアにいる人たちの心の背中を優しく押すよう歌っていた。柔らかい光が降り注ぐような歌声やパフォーマンスだ。でも、曲が進むにつれ、その光は次第に熱を帯びていった。優しく背中を押してもらっていたはずなのに、何時の間にかグッと力強く背中を叩かれ、前へ押されていた。だけど、それも嬉しいじゃない。

　次は、オケの演奏を背景に、この日のイベントタイトルの「竹下通り恋ノ歌劇場」に似合う恋の歌の『スロースターター』を歌唱。恋したときの小さなときめきが次第に明るく膨らんでゆくような、胸の弾む楽曲だ。彼女の気持ちがウキウキしだすのに合わせ、歌声も色付いてゆく。心がときめくのに合わせ、表情や歌声の体温が少しずつ上がってゆく様を味わえたのも嬉しい。上間江望は腕を大きく振り上げ、胸が弾む気持ちを歌声に乗せ、フロア中に届けていた。観客たちも手拍子をしながら、ふわふわと浮き立つ気持ちを舞台の上の彼女に飛ばしていた。ときめく想いを交わし合う様が、とても素敵だ。

　MCでは、8月1日のライブから「月照ラス」と名付けた音楽ユニットを始めることを述べていた。彼女は「表現する手段が一個増えた」ことを喜び、始まりを楽しみにしている今の気持ちをいろいろと語っていた。

自分の会えなくなった家族のことを思って書いたのが、『二日月』。穏やかな音色に乗せ、上間江望は遠くを見つめながら、今は会えなくなった愛しい人へ向けて歌声を響かせていた。優しい温もりを覚える歌だ。体温を身近に感じると言えば良いだろうか。愛しい人への温かい愛情や感謝の気持ちがそこに込められているせいか、歌に触れている間中、ずっとほっこりした気持ちを覚えていた。想いを馳せるのは、悲しさを持ってばかりじゃない。そこには、笑みを浮かべる温かな想いもある。そんな、柔らかい空気に包まれながら、少し哀愁を抱いた『二日月』に触れていた。この日は切ない心にさえも、温かな色が差していた。

　上間江望は、ふたたびアコギを手にした。ここからは、オケとアコギの音を重ね合わせたライブへ。 心地好く跳ねた演奏と、軽いスタッカートの効いたギター演奏の上で、上間江望は駆けだす気持ちを『Stargazer』に乗せて歌っていた。時に、力強くストロークする演奏も印象的だ。心が、そわそわとはしゃぎたい気持ちに染まりだす。広大な景色の中を駆けるように歌う上間江望の声へ引っ張られるように、身体も気持ちも何時の間にか揺れていた。銀河空間を映し出した映像を背に、上間江望は温かな歌声を響かせていた。

「あなたの明日からの人生がキラキラと輝くように」と述べたうえで、最後に上間江望は、『Beautiful World』を歌ってくれた。ほんの数センチに思える、すごく身近な距離感で歌いかける上間江望。でも、その楽曲はとても壮大なテーマを抱いていた。一人一人の身近に寄り添う感情を記した歌だ。誰もが心のポケットにしまい込んでおきたい、そんな前を向きたい元気を詰め込んだ歌こそ、じつは人の心を動かす大きな力を持っている。上間江望の優しく歌いかける声が、一人一人の小さな心に銀河空間にも似た無限の力を与えてゆく。身近なのに、とてもスケールの大きな楽曲だ。何時の間にか希望という星がたくさん心の中に生まれては、輝きを放っていた。

とても素敵な時間だった。次は、８月1日、月照ラスというグループを通して、どんな姿を描きだすのかが楽しみだ。
