GOTCHAROCKAが初のライヴDVDをリリース

GOTCHAROCKAがライヴDVD『∞-∞～INFINITY-HANDCUFFS～GRAND FINAL at AiiA Theater Tokyo』を11月26日にリリースした。精力的にライヴ活動を展開している彼らにとって初のライヴ映像作品となる本作は、9月23日に渋谷AiiA Theaterにて開催された初のホールワンマンにて収録したものである。

GOTCHAROCKAの武器は、ヴォーカル•樹威の卓越した歌唱力で、その伸びのある表現力豊かな歌声が映えるスローな曲もレパートリーにはある。が、彼らの真骨頂は、ギタリストでありメインコンポーザーでもあるJUNが主となって作るラウドロックである。そういった楽曲は、ライヴで大きな威力を発揮するが、客席を巻き込んでこそ一体感を味わえるもの。だからこそ、椅子のあるホールという環境が、GOTCHAROCKAのライヴにどんな影響を及ぼすか…非常に興味深かった。

DVDにはこの日の模様が2枚のディスクにあますところなく収録されているので、どんな様子だったかはDVDで観てもらいたいと思うが…。ひとつ言えることは、ホールの椅子席は何のハードルにもならなかったということ。演奏していたステージ側がどう感じていたかはわからないが、少なくとも客席側からは、遠さを感じることはなかった。それはきっと、メンバーの気持ちの熱さや演奏力の高さあってこそなのではと思う。ホールライヴは演奏力が非常にモノをいうもので、密度が高いライヴハウスという空間ならば勢いで押し切ることができても、そうはいかないからだ。だからこそ、オーディエンスを納得させる演奏力や歌唱力が必須となってくる。結成丸2年のGOTCHAROCKAは、バンドとしての経験はまだ浅いが、樹威・JUN・ベースの十夜、メンバー3人それぞれが別のバンドで豊富な経験を積んでいる。そこから来る安定感と、バンドとしてはまだ未知数の伸びしろが、今のGOTCHAROCKAの魅力なのだと思う。とはいえ、彼らの魅力は、今後活動を続けていくことで様々な形に変化していくことだろう。“今”ならではのGOTCHAROCKAは、ぜひ、AiiA Theaterでのワンマンライヴの模様から感じてほしい。
