WEAVER、シンガポールのフェスで8,000人を熱狂の渦に巻き込む

11月22日（土）にシンガポールで開催されたアジアの音楽フェスティバル「Sundown Festival 2014」に日本代表としてWEAVERが出演し、8,000人の観客を熱狂の渦に巻き込んだ。

日も沈んだ20時から出番となった彼らは、冒頭、ジャムセッションで高い演奏力を見せつけオーディエンスをしっかり掴むと、全編英語詞の「Time Will Find A Way」など海外仕様のパフォーマンスを披露。そしてCOLDPLAYの「Viva la Vida」と自身の楽曲をミックスして演奏するマッシュアップでは、曲の合間に、YMOの「RYDEEN」や映画『アナと雪の女王』の「Let It Go」、そして現地では知らない人はいないシンガポール建国記念日のために作られた曲「HOME」などを3人で連弾するパフォーマンスを披露し、その場に集まった約8,000人のオーディエンスから大歓声が起こるほどの盛り上がりを見せた。その模様は翌日シンガポールで最も権威のある新聞"The Straits Times"で、彼らの大きな写真とともに「日本のWEAVERは心に沁みた。」と報じられるほど、現地の心をしっかりと掴んだようだ。ロンドン留学を経て音楽的な成長、進化はもちろんのこと、英語でのコミュニケーション能力も高まり、彼らにとって4度目となるシンガポールでのライブは、成長した姿をしっかりと提示し、そして今後の海外での活動を大きな可能性を示すものとなった。

そして翌23日（日）は、海外では“初"となるファンイベント「WEAVER SPECIAL PRIVATE EVENT」を開催。集まった現地のファンと英語でのトークセッションが行なわれ、参加者からリクエストを受け付けた楽曲を特別に披露。「なぜ、ロンドン留学したのか？」とのファンからの質問には「一つの理由は、初めての海外公演がシンガポールで、コミュニケーションがうまく取れなくて悔しい思いをした。もっと自分たちの気持ちや音楽を届けたいと思ったので、イギリスに留学したんです。」と話した。彼らにとって海外での活動を視野にいれるきっかけを得たシンガポールで、ロンドン留学を経て成長した姿を、自らの言葉でしっかりと示す場となった。

そんな海外での活動も活発なWEAVERは、次なるアクションとして2015年春に全国22カ所を回るライブハウスツアーを開催する。既に発表されている2015年春にリリース予定のニューシングルへの期待も含め、デビュー5周年という節目を迎えたWEAVERの次なる活動を是非チェックしよう！
