indigo la End、ツアーファイナルでサポートドラムの佐藤栄太郎の正式加入を発表

indigo la Endが3月17日に中野サンプラザでワンマンツアー「幸せが溢れたら」のツアーファイナルを開催した。

indigo la Endは2月にメジャーファーストアルバム『幸せが溢れたら』を発表するも、年明けにドラマーのオオタユウスケの脱退が発表され、今回のツアーでは急遽サポートとして佐藤栄太郎を招聘。ホールでのワンマンは今回のツアーが初ということも重なって、バンドにとっては試行錯誤の時間が続いたと言っていいと思うが、この日は新体制に対する確かな手ごたえを感じさせるライブとなった。

ステージ前方の幕が上がり、「ワンダーテンダー」からスタート。続く「夜汽車は走る」では後方にスクリーンが登場し、映像を写しながら演奏するなど、ホールならではの演出も加わる。序盤で印象的だったのは、曲間をドラムでつないで次々と曲を演奏していったことで、あえてサポートの佐藤にペースを握らせることにより、プレイに落ち着きを与えようとしているように思えた。佐藤がハイハットを小刻みに刻んでから、Baの後鳥亮介のスラップベースに突入したファンキーな“花をひとつかみ"に続いては、Vo/Gの川谷絵音がバラードの 「抱きしめて」をしっとりと歌い上げる。

最初のMCでは佐藤に加え、インディゴのライブではレギュラーメンバーである2人のコーラスを紹介。まだホールの環境に戸惑っていると話すも、かつてこの会場でライブを観たと思い出を語り、その場に立てて嬉しいと感想を伝える。川谷は以前からしっかり音楽と向き合えるホールでのライブを望む発言をしていて、その念願が叶った喜びもあったに違いない。

「billion billion」ではGの長田カーティスがギターソロでライトハンドを披露するなど、徐々にステージがヒートアップしていき、インタールード的な「まなざしの予感」を挟んで、インディゴの楽曲の中でも最もハードな「実験前」へ。カラフルな照明も加わって、ノイジーかつサイケデリックな空間が立ち現れ、アウトロではフロントの3人がかわるがわる前方に出て行ったりと、大きな盛り上がりを見せた。

続くMCではオオタの脱退が前向きな決断だったことが伝えられ、急なサポート依頼を引き受けてくれた佐藤への感謝を述べると、「改めて、インディゴを一生続けたいと思った」と語り、「これからもよろしくお願いします」と客席に語りかける。そして、再び後方にスクリーンが登場し、「心ふたつ」と「幸せが溢れたら」が演奏された。『幸せが溢れたら』というアルバムは、「ラブソング」「失恋」をモチーフとした作品で、それが偶然にもドラマーとの別れというバンドの状況ともリンクしてしまった。しかし、言うまでもなく別れは始まりであり、映像や美しいコーラスと共に、哀感たっぷりに届けられた“幸せが溢れたら"は、さまざまな想いの詰まった、この日随一の名演だったと言っていいと思う。薄暗い照明の中で繊細に歌われた「つぎの夜へ」以降は、「さよならベル」、「夜明けの街でサヨナラを」とラストに向けてステージが再び熱を帯び、本編の最後に演奏されたのは名曲「幸せな街路樹」。アウトロでは延々と轟音がかき鳴らされたが、この日は普段のライブハウスだと楽器の音に埋もれてしまいがちなコーラスもよく聴こえ、その楽器とコーラスが重なり合った重厚な音を浴びながら、この曲の真の姿を初めて体験したような気持ちになった。

アンコールでは佐藤の正式加入を発表。祝福ムードに包まれると、「この4人になっての最初の曲」と言って「名もなきハッピーエンド」がこの日一のテンションで演奏され、最後は「素晴らしい世界」のラストを川谷が涙声になりながらアカペラで歌いきった。この曲は彼らのデビュー作『さようなら、素晴らしい世界』のタイトル曲であり、インディゴがこれまでも常に別れや喪失感を歌い続けてきたのだということを再認識させる楽曲である。3月という季節に限ったことではなく、人生はいつだって別れの連続だ。しかし、僕らはその別れを笑顔で見送り、その後にやってくる出会いを求めて生きていく。インディゴのライブが素晴らしいのは、そんな事実を改めて認識させてくれるからであり、最後に整列した6人の姿が晴れやかだったのは、きっとそこに新たな世界を見出したからに違いない。
