THE YELLOW MONKEYが復活!? 全国アリーナツアー開催を発表！

2004年に解散したTHE YELLOW MONKEYが、5月11日（水）・12日（木）の東京・国立代々木競技場 第一体育館より、全国10箇所20公演にわたるアリーナツアー『THE YELLOW MONKEY SUPER JAPAN TOUR 2016』を開催することが、1月8日（金）午前0時に立ち上げられた新たなオフィシャルサイト「theyellowmonkey.jp」にて発表された。

THE YELLOW MONKEYは、1992年にメジャーデビューしたロックバンド。メンバーは吉井和哉（Vo）、菊地英昭（Gt）、廣瀬洋一（Ba）、菊地英二（Dr）の4人。活動中、トータル8枚のオリジナルアルバムを発表、「JAM」「楽園」「LOVE LOVE SHOW」「BURN」など後世に残るヒットシングル、数多くの名曲を生み出し、CDの売り上げは累計1,000万枚以上を記録。

また、そのライブは活動初期から高い実力と人気を誇り、特に1998年の「PUNCH DRUNKARD TOUR」は、年間113本、55万人を動員し100億円もの経済効果を生み出すなど、日本を代表するロックバンドとして君臨。しかし2001年1月8日、東京ドーム公演後、活動を休止。2004年7月7日付けで解散を発表。活動休止以降現在まで、各メンバーは個々の音楽活動を行っている。バンドが影響を与えたアーティストや人物は多岐に渡り、解散後も日本の音楽シーンに大きな影響力を持っていた。

THE YELLOW MONKEYがツアーを行うのは、2000年以来、実に16年ぶり。５月11日（水）東京・国立代々木競技場第一体育館を皮切りに全国10都市・20公演を行うアリーナツアーだが、1月8日より最速先行予約受付が開始されている。チケットは通常の指定席に加え、趣向を凝らしたさまざまな券種を用意。18歳未満限定の『U-18ぺア指定席』や、バンドのメジャーデビュー日である92年5月21日以降の出生に限定される『'92グループ指定席』は、若い世代向けの実にユニークなお買い得チケットだ。また、本日からオフィシャルHP上で開設されたファンクラブ限定で販売される『SUPER指定席』が一体どのような座席なのか、その内容にも注目が集まる。

現時点で、今回のアリーナツアー発表に対するTHE YELLOW MONKEYメンバーからの直接の声明は確認されていない。しかし、チケットが争奪戦になるのは間違いないので、早めにオフィシャルHPをチェックしたほうがよさそうだ。また、各種オフィシャルSNS（LINE、Twitter、Facebook、Instagram）も同時に立ち上げられ、公式スタッフ募集企画の企画もあるので、こちらもHPでチェックしてみよう。
