中島美嘉、『MTV Unplugged』でのプレミアムなライブ収録が終了

中島美嘉が伝統のアコースティックライブ『MTV Unplugged』を1月10日（日）、品川インターシティにて収録。「花束」、「LIFE」、「雪の華」等をこの日限りのアレンジで披露した。

世界中のトップアーティストが出演し、独創的で個性あふれるアコースティックライブの源流としてその歴史を刻んできた「MTV Unplugged」。日本制作としては、2001年の宇多田ヒカルから2015年6月収録の長渕剛まで、総勢26組のアーティストが登場しいつものライブとは一味違うパフォーマンスを披露してきた。

今回この伝統のステージに立ったのは、力強い歌声と独特の感性でポップシーンにおいて唯一無二の存在感を放ち、これまでに数多くのステージでファンを魅了してきた中島美嘉。デビュー15周年を迎えそのキャリアに新たな章を刻み始めた彼女が、圧倒的な表現力で渾身のパフォーマンスを披露した。この模様は2月27日（土）21時よりMTVにて放送される。

優しい木の温もりが包む、クラシカルな東京・品川インターシティホール。中島美嘉がその格調高いステージにゆっくり姿を見せると、会場からは大きな拍手が贈られた。

一瞬の静寂の後、深く息を吸い込んで歌い始めたのは1曲目「花束」。圧倒的な声量と伸びやかに響き渡る美声は、観客の耳と心を一気にわし掴みにする。ダイレクトに届く生楽器とボーカルが溶け合っていく世界は、想像以上に美しく、荘厳だ。

「最後まで心を込めて、1曲1曲に魂を込めて歌いたいと思います」と最初の挨拶をした後、華麗に舞うバレリーナをバックに歌唱したのは「桜色舞うころ」。オーガニックでゆるやかなアレンジが楽曲に新たな命を吹き込み、中島の歌声も強い生命力を感じる仕上がり。続く大ヒット曲「ORION」も、この時期にピッタリの美しいメロディーと切ないボーカルが胸をギュッと締め付けた。

「見たことある顔の人たちもいっぱいいますが、初めての方も。こういうライブは珍しいので、どう思って見てくれているかわからないですが……大丈夫。ここからは楽しい曲もやっていきます」

――そうハニかむように笑うと、続くアップナンバー「LIFE」では会場中が手拍子。中島も楽しそうに身体をスウィングして歌い、ラストには無邪気な笑顔も見せてくれた。

ライブ後半は、ピアノのみをバックに歌った「声」、ファンはこのライブで絶対聴きたかったであろう「雪の華」と、会場一体となった酔いしれるバラードが続く。中でも「雪の華」は、このライブ形式だからこその、すぐ耳元で歌われているような臨場感が圧巻。全身全霊を込めて“愛"を歌う姿に、心地良い身震いがした。会場が再び明るいムードになった「GIFT」～「ALL HANDS TOGETHER」も、聴いているだけでワクワクする歌声に合わせてオーディエンスがリズミカルに手拍子。
音楽でひとつになった、そのシンプルかつ純粋な空間に中島のテンションも右肩上がりの様子だった。

全身全霊の歌声を届けた「A MIRACLE FOR YOU」で一旦ライブは終了。だが、「せっかくこういう素敵な場をいただいたので…」と、彼女にとって特別な想いが込められたオリジナルソング「Alone」をアンコールで披露。透き通るように美しく、優しく、そして悲しい歌声が何度となく胸を打ち、観客の涙を誘った。

すべての楽曲を歌い終えると、「今日は本当に本当にありがとうございました！」――そう深々と頭を下げた中島。場内からは、“まだまだその歌声を聴いていたい"という声を代弁したような、万雷の拍手が湧き起こっていた。
