人間椅子、賞賛の声が鳴り止まなかったワンマンツアー最終夜

3月19日、東京・赤坂BLITZにて、人間椅子の「怪談 そして死とエロス～リリース記念ワンマンツアー」が最終夜を迎えた。

2月3日リリースの最新アルバム『怪談 そして死とエロス』に伴うこの全国ツアーは、各地で大盛況。この夜も、開演前から凄まじい妖気がソールドアウトの会場を支配していた。

午後6時半を少し回った頃に場内が暗転すると、和嶋慎治（G＆Vo）、鈴木研一（B＆Vo）、ナカジマノブ（Ds＆Vo）の3人が登場。割れんばかりの拍手と歓声に迎えられた彼らが放った1曲目は、「雪女」。その幻想的な美と劇的な展開にオーディエンスはいきなり心を鷲掴みにされる。続けて放たれた「地獄の球宴」のへヴィネスに、場内の一体感は増すばかり。和嶋が情熱的にギターをかき鳴らし、鈴木がド迫力の低音を響かせ、ナカジマが強力なリズムを刻む。人間椅子のあうんの呼吸は今宵も絶品だ。「おかげさまで、大入り満員ですよ！」と叫ぶ和嶋に大喜びで応えるオーディエンス。彼らを長年支持してきたファンはもちろん、近年彼らの音楽に興味を抱くようになった観客も、終始夢中でステージを見つめている。最新作を主軸に据えながらも、「遺言状放送」などのレアな楽曲も飛び出すセットリストに、会場は大いに沸いた。巧みな演奏力も見どころだが、彼らの和やかなMCは今夜も絶好調。今回のツアーに合わせて和嶋がレスポールを購入したエピソードをきっかけとして、GUNS N' ROSES「Sweet Child O' Mine」をさらりと即興で奏でる3人のサービス精神に、オーディエンスは満面の笑みを浮かべていた。観客が拳を突き上げてサビを大合唱する「恐怖の大王」、鈴木がハンドマイクで観客を煽動する「冥土喫茶」、ナカジマが元気いっぱいにヴォーカルをとる「超能力があったなら」など、中盤以降もクライマックスの連続。本編の最後には、「人面瘡」「針の山」といった必殺の名曲が飛び出し、赤坂BLITZは揺れに揺れた。アンコールでは、和嶋が「60歳になっても、70歳になっても、命のある限りバンドをやり続ける所存であります！」と高らかに宣言。「新調きゅらきゅきゅ節」と「地獄」で畳みかけ、祭りのような熱気がさらに場内を包む。二度目のアンコールにして今宵最後の「なまはげ」の余韻が響き渡る頃には、時計は午後9時前を指していた。ダークかつキャッチーな曲もあれば、ロックマニアが唸るようなプログレッシブな構成の曲もあるのが、人間椅子の醍醐味。ハード・ロック／へヴィ・メタルの楽しさを体現する3人に向けて、いつまでも賞賛の声が鳴りやまないツアーファイナルとなった。

近年、各方面から注目を浴びている人間椅子だが、今後も刺激的なニュースが続々と飛び込んできそうだ。まずは4月17日、東京・EX THEATER ROPPONGIにて、〈続・怪談 そして死とエロス〉と銘打たれた追加公演の開催が発表されている。このワンマン公演では、今回のツアーで披露されなかった曲やレア曲も登場する模様。この貴重な機会をぜひお見逃しなく。また、6月15日には新宿LOFTにて戸川純とのツーマンライブが、7月には全国ワンマンツアーが予定されているという。勢いを増す一方の人間椅子の活躍に要注目だ。
