I Don't Like Mondays.が『スマモバ』記者発表会にてCM曲「LIFE」を初披露

I Don't Like Mondays.が7月20日にリリースするニューシングル「TONIGHT」のカップリングに収録される新曲の「LIFE」が格安スマホ『スマモバ』WEB-CMタイアップに決定し、13日に都内で行なわれた記者発表会に『スマモバ』オフィシャルアンバサダーを務める池田エライザとともに登壇し「LIFE」をアコースティック・バージョンの生演奏で初披露した。

CMは田舎を離れて都会で暮らす池田エライザ演じる主人公が、久しぶりに帰省。再開した友人たちと豊かな自然のなかゆっくりと過ごす1日が描かれ、"離れていても色々な人とつながっている"というテーマが表現されている。タイトル通り人生の深遠を歌い上げた歌詞、これまでのアイドラのイメージを裏切るような壮大なバラードが映像にマッチした仕上がりとなっている。

ボーカルの悠は「いつも自分たちの曲はアップテンポで、踊れるようなものが多いんですが、今回は初めての試みとして壮大な感じを目指して作ってみました。完成したCMを観て、自分たちの曲に映像がついたことによって、また新しい曲の良さを自分たちでも知れました」と語り、池田も「CMの撮影中はいつも「LIFE」を流していました。この曲の歌詞やメロディをイメージしながら、演技をすることも多かったです。」と撮影当時を振り返った。

「LIFE」はこれまでのアイドラのライブでも演奏されたことがなく、今回が初披露。ギター2本とカホンのみによるシンプルな編成で、より歌の力強さが際立った演奏となった。生演奏を聴いた池田は「鳥肌が止まらないです！　これだけの楽器と声だけで人を感動させるのが純粋にすごいと思いました！　感動しました。」と語った。

CMのテーマともなっている「つながり」に関しての問いに、アイドラは「こうやって作った曲がＣＭになることによって、またいろいろな人に出会えたり知り合えたりするのも、繋がりだなと思っています。バンド内の繋がりは…ありすぎて、これ以上はいいです。毎日一緒にいるので（笑）」と笑わせた。

今秋に待望の全国ツアーが決定しているアイドラだが、その前には各種夏フェス/イベントへの出演も続々決定中。この度新たに「イナズマロック フェス 2016」風神ステージへの出演が発表された。またこの週末は16日（土）に、『「TONIGHT」発売記念アコースティックライブ』と題したアコースティック・ライブの生配信をLINE LIVEにて行なうほか、17日（日）には「テレビ朝日・六本木ヒルズ 夏祭り SUMMER STATION」のフリーライブ『コカ・コーラSUMMER STATION 音楽LIVE』への出演が決定、同イベントがabemaTVにて生配信されるので是非チェックしてみよう。
