THE BAWDIES、『NEW』リリースツアーがスタート！ 「105歳までロックンロールを貫く」

THE BAWDIESが2月19日、新木場STUDIO COAST公演より、全国ツアー『NEW BEAT TOUR 2017』をスタートさせた。

通算6枚目となるアルバム『NEW』を引っ提げ、全国を廻る今回のツアー。初日となった本公演では、まさに“NEW”なBAWDIESが存分に発揮されていた。

この日の会場は隅々まで超満員。スタートするやいなや冒頭3曲をぶっ通しで演奏し、会場を温めたあと、『改めましてBAWDIESです！ これから全国33カ所回っていくわけですが、今日はその初日です！ 今日は皆さんの太陽になってロックンロールを照らし続けていきます！』とROYがツアーに懸ける意気込みを宣言すると、オーディエンスからは大きな歓声が上がった。

その後アルバム『NEW』の収録曲の中でも一際爽やかな「DANCING SHOES」やシングルカットもされた「SUNSHINE」を披露。途中MCパートでは、最近髪をばっさり切ったTAXMANと髪を染めたMARCYをROYがいじり、場内が和んだあと、MARCYとTAXMANの高速セッションがスタート。2人の真剣なプレイによって会場全体が引き締まったところで、今回のステージで初披露となったメドレーを披露すると、会場の温度はまた一気に上昇した。

『短編映画“NEW”を観てくれた方はいますか？ 最近出会った少年の気持ちを曲にしました』と、『NEW』の初回盤付属のDVDに収録されている短編映画「NEW」の一場面をそのままMCで披露するという粋な演出で「POPULAR GIRL」を演奏。その後もこの短編映画「NEW」の話で盛り上がった。

後半戦も新旧織り交ぜた選曲の数々で、息つく暇もない状態でライヴは進行していき、最新アルバム『NEW』が自分たちにとって最高傑作であるという思いを語るROYから、『（アルバム『NEW』は）皆さんの人生のサウンドトラックになると思います。』という自信のこもった一言と共にアルバムのリード曲「NEW LIGHTS」を披露。終盤に差し掛かると、『80歳いや105歳までロックンロールを貫くという決意が込められた曲』という、ROYからの決意表明と共に「THE EDGE」が鳴り響いた。

今回のツアーで初披露となる衣装や演出面も含めて、また新たなTHE BAWDIESを体感できる『NEW BEAT TOUR 2017』。ぜひ会場に足を運んでみてはいかがだろうか。
