唯 -YuI-、ソロ・プロジェクト誕生の理由を語る!!

Vagu*Projectの唄歌いギタリストとして活動中のYuIが、バンド活動と並行し、-YuI-としてソロ・プロジェクトを立ち上げたことは以前にもお伝えしたが、このたび新しい報告が届けられた。

　まず、ソロ・プロジェクトを行うことになった経緯について、唯 -YuI-は以下のように言葉を寄せてくれた。

　「いろんな方々が、様々な形で弊害を伴うコロナウィルス(COVID-19)。僕が所属するVagu*Projectもご多分に漏れませんでした。イベントが中止、延期になったのはもちろん虚しくはありますが、当時の僕が感じたのは「僕は嘆いている場合では無い」ということでした。対応がいまいち読めない政治や過剰な報道をするマスメディアにも苛立ちを感じましたが、僕は政治家でも専門家でも無く、音楽家でしかありません。僕に出来る事は、作品を創って、唄を歌って、表現して、お客さんに楽しんで頂くことだけです。そのために、一旦、負の感情を棄てて創造することに没頭しようと考えました。
もともと昨年から計画はありましたが、急ピッチで曲やレコーディング、衣装や撮影の段取り。文字通りソロでの動きなので、てんやわんやしました。普通にバンド活動出来ていた時より忙しいことに気付いたのは、全て段取りが出来てからでした、はい…。
新たに唯 -YuI-として撮影したアーティスト写真も、「自分の中でイメージした通りに表現してみたい」と思いました。今回披露した中には、イメージと違い、後日再撮をした写真もあります。公開した写真を見て、みなさんがどのような感情を抱くのかは僕には判りません。好き嫌いがある事は無論承知の上で、「決して悪いモノではない」と感じて頂けるのでは無いかと思っています、はい…」

唯 -YuI-は現在も、7月末頃に発売を予定しているソロ第一弾音源とMV。さらに、今回撮影したアーティスト写真の数々や制作過程をまとめた冊子などの商品化も進めている。MVに関しては、「Vagu*Project時代には表現してこなかった内容」で制作。高画質での商品化を計画していることも伝えてくれた。
1stシングルには、Vagu*Projectナンバーの中でも支持の高い「Pierce」「Tetris」も収録。躍動的な楽曲を、ピアノを主軸に据えたアンプラグドなスタイルへ大胆にアレンジ。疾走する楽曲や力強く躍動する歌声の勢いを活かしながらも、流麗に響くピアノの旋律や情熱的な演奏に耳が惹かれる楽曲に仕上げている。他にも、どんな音源が作品に収録になるのか楽しみだ。

　7月末頃に音源を発売するのに合わせ、唯 -YuI-はオンライン/オフライン両方を通した露出を積極的に行うことも計画中だ。その時期には「SHOWROOMという配信アプリを通じて生放送をお送りしたいと考えていますし、展示即売会などのイベントが開催されるようでしたら積極的に参加したいと考えています」とも語っている。あえて「ライブという形ではない対面の方法を用いてファンたちと触れあいを求めてゆく」のも、唯 -YuI-のソロ・プロジェクトならではの表現スタイル。他にも、いろんなことを考えているように、どんな形で我々の前に姿を現すのか、楽しみにしていたい。

9月には、早くも第二弾作品のリリースも計画。そこへ向け、引き続き制作活動を続けていく。第一弾CD/第二弾CDともに詳細が見えたら、またお伝えしたい。
