MONKEY MAJIK、初の日本武道館ワンマンが大成功

MONKEY MAJIKのバンド結成15周年をファンと祝う記念ライブ「MONKEY MAJIK Live at BUDOKAN -15th Anniversary-」が2月7日（土）東京・日本武道館で開催された。

オープニングSEと共に会場を埋め尽くした8,000人のファンの大歓声に迎えられ、メンバーがステージに登場。2月4日に発売されたばかりの最新アルバム『Colour by Number』収録の「Frozen」からスタートし、続いてMONKEY MAJIKを全国に知らしめた「Around The World」を披露すると会場は早くもヒートアップ！　Blaise（Vo&Gt）の「今夜は最高のパーティーにしようぜ！」との叫びから続くインディー時代の名曲とアップテンポの曲でたたみ掛ける。10曲目には早くもゲストの土屋アンナがセンターサブステージから登場しフィーチャリングソングの「Ginger」に妖艶なパフォーマンスで華を添えると会場全体がダンスホールと化した。

MCではMaynard（Vo&Gt）が「15周年にこのステージに立てるのは、みなさんの温かい声援があってのこと、いままで応援頂いて本当にありがとう」と感謝の言葉を伝えた。

メンバーのアイディアが盛り込まれた巨大LEDを使った映像演出が楽曲に深みを増し、五感を刺激し続ける。さらには共演者（VERBAL（m-flo）/SEAMO/吉田兄弟）のバンド結成15周年を祝うコメント映像も流され、いよいよゲストとの共演ゾーンに突入。15曲目には吉田兄弟とのコラボ曲「Change」、そして三味線奏者「疾風」を入れた総勢10名による共演の「夏の情事」は圧巻！　続いてSEAMOを招いた「卒業、そして未来へ」はラップと心地いいリズムとサウンドで会場をハートフルに包み込んだ。そして18曲目には、これもセンターサブステージから登場したVERBAL（m-flo）とコラボした「Picture Perfect」を披露し中盤を盛り上げた。19曲目の「fly」、20曲目の「brokedown」ではメンバー4人がセンターサブステージに移動し、アコースティックスタイルでのやさしい歌声が響き渡った。

26曲目は、アカデミー賞を受賞したアニメーション作品「木を植えた男」とのコラボレーションMUSIC VIDEOが巨大LEDで流れ、最後のシーンではBlaise（Vo&Gt）自身が作者のフレデリック・バック氏に会った際に撮影した写真が映し出され故フレデリック・バック氏に敬意を表した。

本編最後の28曲目は、最新アルバム『Colour by Number』ラストに収録された「Walk with me」を、地元仙台のゴスペルシンガーのジョンルーカス率いる総勢40名の「JL Gospel Family」と披露、会場を感動の渦に巻き込み本編が終了した。

アンコールにはファンからの「おめでとう！」の鳴り止まない声がメンバーをステージに呼び戻すというモマジファン達による演出も「ファンもFamily」と日頃から語るMONKEY MAJIKならではの光景であった。

Maynard（Vo&Gt）とBlaise（Vo&Gt）の2人だけがセンターサブステージに登場し、アコースティックギターのみで29曲目の「Lily」がはじまると感動に涙を流すファンの姿が。

そして、プレゼントコーナーへと移るとメンバーの友人でもあるマジシャン「セロ」がサプライズ登場しマジックを披露するエンターテインメントショーの演出や15周年記念メンバープロデュースオリジナルミニギターをプレゼントするなど、ファンへの感謝をライブパフォーマンスだけでないカタチで伝えた。

31曲目には、ゲスト共演のトリを務める、メンバーが尊敬するアーティストのタケカワユキヒデ（ゴダイゴ）が登場し、バンド名の由来となった「MONKEY MAGIC」を披露。巨大LEDに映し出されるのは当時の「ゴダイゴ」のLIVE映像！　お決まりの「蜘蛛の巣」テープが放たれると会場全体は大興奮となった。

そして、ラストとなる32曲目の楽曲は、2011年3月11日の東日本大震災で甚大な被害を受けた三陸鉄道が、地元復興に対してみんなが一つになれる事として立ち上げた草野球チーム「三陸鉄道キットDreams」に共感し書き下ろした「Beautiful」で締めくくられ、会場を埋め尽くした8,000人のファンはMONKEY MAJIKが入念に準備を重ねた15年目にして最大のパーティーに酔いしれた。
