LUNA SEA、2年半振りの新曲「Limit」を6月にシングルとしてリリース

LUNA SEAの約2年半ぶりとなる新曲「Limit」がニューシングルとして6月22日にリリースされることがわかった。

「Limit」は日本テレビアニメ『エンドライド』の主題歌として4月2日より放送されており、現在はその主題歌エディットの配信のみとなっているが、ついにニューシングルとして正式にCDリリースされることとなった。ロックリスナーのみならず、アニメファンも注目している今作は『エンドライド』サイドからの熱烈オファーをバンドが快諾して実現したもので、作品の世界観をイメージして描かれた歌詞も要注目だ。

タイトル曲である「Limit」は美しいギターの旋律に唯一無二のボーカルが絡み、ミディアムテンポの重厚なリズムに変化すると、サビでは一気に疾走感が爆発するというLUNA SEAならではの展開が全編に響きわたる作品である。さらに現在制作中のC/Wに収録されるナンバーは、これもまたLUNA SEAの真骨頂ともいえるSUGIZOがヴァイオリンを奏でる幻想的な楽曲とのことだ。

一昨年末に終幕から約15年振りとなるオリジナルアルバム『A WILL』をリリースした後、約10ヶ月をかけて全国を周り、昨年6月には初の主催フェス「LUNATIC FEST.」を開催するなど話題を集めたLUNA SEAは、昨年の12月に行なわれたFC限定ライヴで「ニューアルバムの制作に入っている」と明言していただけに、今作はそのプロローグとしても期待せずにはいられない。

さらに年末12月23日・24日には、さいたまスーパーアリーナでのライヴも発表されており、こちらは「The Holy Night　-Beyond the Limit-」という正式タイトルが発表された。まさにバンド自らの限界を壊し、その先に待ち受ける結成30周年に向けて、いよいよLUNA SEAが新たな次元へと踏み出そうとしている。
