BOØWYのプレミアムオフ会イベントに高橋まことがSPゲストとして参加

80年代を駆け抜けた伝説のバンドBOØWY（氷室京介/Vo、布袋寅泰/G、松井恒松/B、高橋まこと/Ds） 。BOØWYの全てが分かる唯一無二のオフィシャルサイト『BOØWY HUNT』による80名限定プレミアムなオフ会イベント『BOØWY HUNT 〜FUNKLOVE〜』が、9月11日（日）新宿ネイキッドロフトで行なわれた。

バンドの歴史を追いつづけた音楽文化ライターの佐伯明氏をMCに、元東芝EMIのBOØWY担当スタッフである子安次郎氏（ディレクター）、鶴田正人氏（A&R）、小澤啓二氏（プロモーション）、廣瀬哲氏（プロモーション）を迎えたパネルディスカッション『TALKING ABOUT BOØWY STORY ARCHIVE』を開催。さらに、スペシャルゲストとしてBOØWY ドラマーの高橋まことも参加した豪華面子での開催となった。

開演とともに会場には聞き覚えのあるSEが流れた。10万枚限定で発売され即完した、“ライヴハウス武道館へようこそ！"のMCが伝説的なライブアルバム『“GIGS" JUST A HERO TOUR 1986』に収録された1曲目「PROLOGUE」のオリジナル・ヴァージョンが初披露され、この日のために作られたBOØWYロゴの入ったビールグラスで乾杯。BOØWYとの思い出で忘れられない、バンドがいかにスタッフから愛されていたかが伝わるエピソードが続いていく。

なかでも興味深かったのは佐伯明氏による「BOØWYの信奉者は生でライヴを観れなかった人たちも多いのではないか？」という考察。たしかに会場に集まったファンは当時小中学生であった30代〜40代がメインで、最後のライヴとなった東京ドームでの『LAST GIGS』を目撃したのは会場ではたった3人だった。「BOØWYを生で観れてないからこそ、強い渇望が生まれているんじゃないか？」という推理。解散後も、それぞれソロ活動での活躍、そしてBOØWYのベスト盤やライブ盤、映像を定期的にリリースし続けてきたことで、作品が時代や世代を超えて継承され続けてきたことがよくわかるエピソードだ。

ビートルズが世界の音楽史を変えたように、日本ではBOØWYが先陣を切ってロックのポピュラリティ化を押し進めたことは時代が証明している。共に実質的な活動年数が短く、伝説的な下積み時代、メロディアスな楽曲と強靭なビート、4人の個性、レコード会社もEMIだったという共通点もある。解散から29年。BOØWYは再結成することは無いだろうが、楽曲の“イレモノ"や“届け方"が時代によって変化しようとも、4人が生み出した作品は、次世代ファンへ継承され続けていく。

今後、会員制サイト『BOØWY HUNT』では、Tシャツなどオフィシャルグッズや、当時未発売だったツアー用コートなどが復刻限定販売されるという。2017年、35周年をむかえるすでにBOØWYの動向から目が離せない。

1987年〜1988年、BOØWY解散へ向けて綴られた記念碑的なマガジン。平成版『BOØWY HUNT』では、メイン・コンテンツに、メンバーである高橋まこと資料提供による、当時の貴重な手帳を参照したBOØWYの歴史を網羅しようと試みた年表『BOØWY HISTORY』。当時の活動の歴史、ライヴのセットリスト、貴重なる資料をアーカイブ。さらにBOØWY関係者による、BOØWY伝説を裏付ける貴重なるドキュメンタリーなインタビュー記事『BOØWY STORY ARCHIVE』をセットアップ。他にも、スペシャルな壁紙プレゼントやグッズ販売など、コンテンツは日々更新されていく。
