【シナリオアート】一個一個の曲が夢でもあるし現実でもある

　極めて強い個性を持つバンドがデビューを果たした。空想の物語と現実とが重なり合う独特な歌詞、浮遊感あふれるギターロック、男女ツインヴォーカルの鮮やかな歌い分け。シナリオアートの世界は全てが瑞々しい。

──CDを聴く前にライヴを観せてもらったんだけど、ハヤシくんが物語を語ってクミコさんがフリートークをする、あのスタイルは前からですか？

クミコ「そうです。」

ハヤシ「僕が語るだけのライヴもやってたんですけど、“暗い”と言われ（苦笑）。」

クミコ「最初はそういう世界観で統一したかったんですけど。近寄りがたい感があるかなと思って、気さくなところを入れてとっつきやすくしようかなって。」

──ドラムとギターが前にある逆三角形のセッティングも、見た目のインパクトがあったし。

クミコ「あれは昨年の8月ぐらいから。それまでは普通に後ろで叩いてたんですけど、ツインヴォーカルを前に出したほうがいいと思って、やってみたらいい反応をもらったんで。」

──ライヴといってもただ演奏するだけじゃなくて、空気とか世界観を作るタイプだなぁとすごく思いました。

ハヤシ「ライヴというよりはショーとか劇とか、そういうことができたらいいなと思っているので。曲であり物語であるという、観せ方が伝わりやすいところからそうなりました。」

──それは“シナリオアート”というバンド名を付けた時からのコンセプト？

ハヤシ「いえ、最初は物語ということはまったく意識していなくて、バンド名に引っ張られて音楽が確立していったところがあります。語呂の良さと組み合わせの面白さだけだったんですけど、あとから意味が付いてきたみたいな。」

──ちなみに、曲作りはどういうふうに？

クミコ「曲はだいたい3人のセッションから始まって、曲のもとを作って。それをヴォーカルが持ち帰ってメロディーを付けたりアレンジを加えたりして、またスタジオで合わせて。3人で“この曲は、女の子が花瓶を割ってしまって、寂しくなって帰る帰り道みたいな曲やな”とか話しながら。」

──音からそこまで考えるんですか？　すごいなぁ。

ハヤシ「ジャムセッション、プラス、ディスカッションみたいな感じ。」

クミコ「その時に出たワードを踏まえてヴォーカルが歌詞を書いてくれる。たまに全然違う時もありますけど。」

──ハヤシくんは物語とか、童話とか、空想とか、SFとか、そういうのがもともと好きなのですか？

ハヤシ「好きです。妄想家というか、空想家というか。自分が嫌になったら逃げ込む空想の世界が自分の中にあって、そういうところから出てくるものがあると思います。」

──1stミニアルバム『night walking』、すごく良かったです。1曲目の「ブレーメンドリームオーケストラ」で《空想が現実に》と歌ってるし、現実と空想の境目を描くというテーマがある気がしたのですが。

ハヤシ「コンセプチュアルなアルバムになったと思っていて、1曲目はその入口という意味合いがあります。ここじゃないどこかに行きたい人を引っ張っていけるような。」

クミコ「「ブレーメンドリームオーケストラ」は私のイメージとしては、寝る直前にこの曲を聴くんですよ。2曲目ではもう夢の中に入っていて、一瞬パッと目覚めた時にまだ1時間しか経ってなくて、もう1回寝て、次はまた違う夢を見て…という感じでどんどん夢が進んでいく。夢の中だけどちょっと現実味もあって。そして、一番最後の「アサノシズク」で目覚めて朝になるという、そういうアルバム。入ってる曲にはそれぞれいろんな解釈ができて、一個一個の曲が夢でもあるし現実でもある、そういうアルバムになったと思います。」

ヤマシタ「1曲目の最後に《覚めない夢を見よう》という誘い文句があるんですけど、最後の曲では“夢から覚めたみたいだ”と言っていて。いつまでも夢や空想の世界に一緒に来てほしいと思っているんですけど、最後はこのアルバムを聴いた人が少しでもやさしい気持ちになって、“また現実が始まるんだ”って自分で一歩踏み出していけるような、そっと背中を押すような曲を最後に持ってきて。ずっと夢の世界に居続けることはできないし、かと言って現実にばかりいるのもしんどいから、逃げ場というか、違う世界をこのアルバムの中で感じてもらえたらいいかなと思ってます。」

──それはもしかして、シナリオアートというバンドのコンセプトそのものというか、そういう音楽でありたいという…。

ヤマシタ「そうですね。非現実感というか。」

クミコ「ライヴでも意識してます。観ている間だけでもこっちに来てよ、みたいな。」

ハヤシ「いろいろあったけど最終的に幸せな気分になってくれれば。過程ではすごく悲しかったり、嘆いてたりするけど、最終的に救われてほしいというイメージはあります。」

──いいバンド名を付けましたね。まるで音楽の神様に付けられたような。

ハヤシ「最初は無でしたけどね（笑）。」

──聴いてもらえば伝わるはずだという自信がある？

ハヤシ「あります。ただ、すぐにパッと伝わりやすい曲ではないと思っていて。それも自分らの音楽だと思うんですけど。」

──歌詞がすごく大事だから、シナリオアートの世界は。

クミコ「知れば知るほど面白いと思ってもらえるバンドかなと思います。シナリオアートのお客さんは、よくライヴハウスに行く元気のあるお客さんという感じではなくて、静かな子が多かったりするので。仲良くなるのに時間がかかる（笑）。」

ヤマシタ「何度も来てるのに、5回目ぐらいにやっと話しかけてくれたりとか（笑）。」

──でも、そういう子は1回入ったら抜けないと思う。

ハヤシ「そういう核になるファンの人を増やしたいです。深くまで届いてくれる人を。」
