LUNA SEA、1年9カ月ぶりのワンマン公演２デイズが大盛況のうちに幕

LUNA SEAが12月23日（金・祝）＆24日（土）に1年9カ月ぶりとなるワンマン公演『The Holy Night -Beyond the Limit-』を、さいたまスーパーアリーナにて開催し、2日間で3万人超を動員した。

1995年の初東京ドーム公演以降、2007年の一夜限りの再結成“One Night Dejavu”、2010年の本格再始動“REBOOT”など、節目となる数々のライブを開催して来た12月23日・24日という日は、LUNA SEAとそのファンにとって特別な日。今年は支えてくれるファンへの想いを込めた自身初のクリスマスソング「HOLY KNIGHT」を携え、記念日に新たな物語を付け加えた。

荘厳なSEに合わせ、ステンドグラスと無数のキャンドルの炎がプロジェクションマッピングで投影されると、聖なる夜の幕開けにオーディエンスはどよめいた。本編は、「ROSIER」「I for You」「TONIGHT」など、往年のヒット曲群を惜しみなく放ちつつ、コアファンを歓喜させるレア曲をアクセントにし、練り込まれたセットリスト。今年6月にリリースした新曲「Limit」も披露し、会場を沸かせた。

アンコールを待つ観客から自然発生した「きよしこの夜」の大合唱に迎え入れられ、メンバー5人は再登場。RYUICHI（Vo）は「どうもありがとう！　メリークリスマス！」と語り、「俺たちにとっての聖地はライブであり、その聖地を守り続けていく5人の“騎士（KNIGHT）”というイメージでつくりました」と、LUNA SEA初のクリスマスソング「HOLY KNIGHT」を、舞い降る雪の演出に彩られながら届けた。オフィシャルファンクラブ“SLAVE”限定で先行配信をスタートしたこの曲は、ファンへの愛と感謝に満ちた歌詞、ストリングスの壮大なアレンジが特徴的な美しいバラード。会場限定でCD販売が行われたが、用意された商品は初日ですべて完売！　2日目は急きょ予約対応での追加生産が決定した。

12月23日のMCでは、2017年5月29日（月）に日本武道館公演を開催することを発表。5月29日もまた、地元・町田PLAYHOUSE（神奈川）のステージに5人が初めて立った結成記念日。12月23日とともにLUNA SEAの日としてファンの思い入れが最も深い日である。

RYUICHIは24日のMCで「LUNA SEAの未来の話をしたい」と切り出すと、「今、一生懸命俺たちのアイディアという名の“子どもたち”を育てています。俺たちは音を出すのが好きだから」と、アルバムリリースに向けて楽曲制作中であることをほのめかし、活動を一層充実させること誓った。アルバム『IMAGE』でのメジャーデビューから25年となる2017年、LUNA SEAは加速度を増していく。
